    Hi Admins,

I apologize in advance if this has been posted before. I cannot seem to find anything satisfactory on here or the interwebs in general.

I'm an admin at my local carrier and for the last 3 or so weeks we've had an issue with BBM on BB10 devices. BBM has been intermittent - a user has to toggle the data connection for the BlackBerry bullets to appear in the top right corner of the screen.
I'd like to understand how BBM traffic is carried to the RIM servers using the default carrier APN.
I'm not sure whether my question is clear but any help understanding this would simplify my investigation on this issue by far.

Please let us know your location as BlackBerry did have some infrastructure difficulties this past week. Also device, carrier, and OS version is helpful.

I just picked up a 3g+ prepaid card from the major carrier here (Maroc Telecom), and it seems they don't handle BB10 neither.
By default, it still redirect to BBOS blackberry.net APN. When I switch to the generic local carrier APN, no BlackBerry sevices too! ie no BBM over the network.

I tried to find qualified enough rep to answer the question, but didn't found one yet.

I'll post if I get some info here.

    Thank you Sith_Apprentice!

I'm in Uganda, I noticed the problem with OS 10.2.1.1925 and 10.2.1.2141. Devices - all the BB10 devices i.e. Z30, Z10, Q10 & Q5. Carrier is MTN. The Blackberry bullets are erratic so it's a bit tricky to tell whether it's default carrier APN or BlackBerry APN.

Are you still having these difficulties? How are other data services during this time?

Yes, this is still a problem with BB10. BBOS devices are fine, I haven't received any complaints from any of them.

I had few informations from Maroc Telecom carrier.
They said me that BBM still need to get registration from BB, the BIS way.
They activated via Blackeberry and then, that is sure that *we still need* special attention to get BBM working carrier wise.
For most carriers, the phenomen will not be obvious since the users will have BBM acess behind the scene, without doing anything.
But for few carrier as in my traveling exemple, we still need a trick to get BBM working carrier wise.

Conclusion: BIS is gone for BB10, right. But for mails and internet services only, because for BBM that obvious that we still need special attention from carrier, and user identification collected for Blackberry.

I guess that the only way to go to still get BBM over BIS, but that's pitty that it seems few carriers around the world didn't make full BB10 OS switch.
