    Hi there,

Last weekend I picked up a Q5 from Carphone Warehouse here in the UK during their 99 quid offer. I've got it to use as a backup in case I forget /lose my Z10.

I've got it up to 10.2.1 and installed those of my apps that I needed. However, as I am using the same BlackBerry account in order to get my apps from BlackBerry World, I cannot use BBM as it says my ID is being used on another phone. Is there a way to use a different BlackBerry ID with BBM or am I stuck with not being able to use it on the Q5?

    Thanks

You've got to sign out of your Z10. Which is done by doing a security wipe. If you don't feel like doing that you can always just create a second BlackBerry ID for your Q5.

    Thanks for the replies.

I don't want to sign out/ security wipe though as the Z is my primary phone. Also I want to use the same Id on both phones so that I can download my apps.

Guess I'll have to be BBMless on the Q5 then. A pity.

    Again, thanks for answering

Weird. I just added my regular ID to the Q5 I just bought today. I didn't have to sign out of my Z10...

Usually, it just asks you to switch your Bbm to the new phone.

I switch b/w several different bb10 devices all the time and I just click "switch bbm" when it prompts me and voila, I'm using bbm on the phone of choice for the day.

Really?!?!?!?!? I thought that BBM was tied to your pin number?

Before that was the case, now it is tied to your BBID, though you add people with their PIN. I switch between my Q5 and Z30 this way.

Just create a new BBID. I had the same issue. It's quite easy. Good luck

@Velkod Thanks for the message . Won't that mean that any apps I've purchased on my Z10 won't be available on the Q5 though? Apps are tied to one ID, I believe? I could be wrong though.

@BadGoliath - I didn't realise you could do that. I was worried it would permanently switch me over or have some kind of switch limit. Great to know

Same question. If I kept my current Z10 under one BB I'd and then used another id on my Q5, is it possible to install the Z10 apps on my Q5? So that I am not paying twice?

You can restore your new phone with your old device apps and such. They will work and you can have both on devices. But, you will have to create a new BBID otherwise bbm won't work. I'm not sure you can use the apps actively at the same time like Skype. Signs you out of one.

Thanks. Now would I simply re-download the app from app world or would I transfer all the data and apps, as if I was upgrading or switching devices?

I just purchased a Q5 recently as well but as stated above when I go to use bbm it just asks me to switch my bbm to that device. I have been switching back and forth for a few days now. Never had a problem and never had to sign out of one device in order to use it on another.

Simply use the Switch BBM button... it will sign you out on the other device, and sign you in on the device in hand. Nothing else to do...

Thanks again everyone. I've used the Switch BBM button and it works great (to Q5 and back to Z10).

Alright! Let the games begin - life is going to be so much better here on in! Nothing beats having a few bb10 devices to switch back and forth loll.

Indeed. I've become surprisingly fond of my new little Q5 friend. It's way better than most online reviews made out, and I even like using the physical keyboard, something I was not sure would be the case.
