My wife and I were at the mall today looking at the Passport. I liked it but she didn't like the way you would have to stayed glued with your eyes on the screen when you type. I said well yeah, of course. Then out of the blue she says, "Well, you may not know this but, I've got a bit better at typing now on this Q5 and can type messages without looking!" I was a little shocked and we laughed. I made her prove it and sure enough, she amazed me. So cool.

I've never had a full PKB BlackBerry before and never believed people could do this , but now I believe! It was great to she her finally happy with a phone. Thanks BlackBerry!

I agree that the software keyboard on Passport kinda sucks. Everything else is amazing though

I used to touch type on my old 9900, and usually got a more than surprised reaction as I'd type whole looking them directly in the eye.

Ah I do miss it. But my Dad is loving it

I've always been amazed with thumb touch typers. How do they do it accurately!?

We just do it. I think if you can touch type on a keyboard (for example myself), and because the Q Devices are QWERTY, you can immediately touch type on the BlackBerry because the layout is the same. Well that's what helps me anyway, maybe it's the same for OP's wife?

Ah, I remember back when I had the Curve 8520 I could this as well! Can't seem to do it as accurately on my Q10 sadly.
Hope you guys keep enjoying your phones!

Yep I could do this on my Tour and my 9930. Could walk and easily type away.

Essentially if you can properly type on a keyboard then then the phone shouldn't be any different because you already know where the keys are.

I've been able to do this on my 9900 and now my Q10 for about two years now. It's really useful while walking or texting in class and I get a good handful of reactions from people!

That's the advantage of having the old-school-and-conventional QWERTY keyboard not the one with passport. Sure it's innovative but, nothing can beat the old one I'm sure! I already mastered that too on my Q5, really helpful when I'm in class and have to reply my friend chat lol

Same here. Started with 9900 and still doing it with Q10. Raised more than a few eyebrows when demostrating the fast no-looking typing.

I was able to pull that with 9860 while using portrait mode, even though I'm from the Czech Republic and we have characters like ě, š, č, ř, ž very common in our language. But yes, I love my Q5 for the physical keyboard!

With a BlackBerry physical keyboard it's not all the uncommon to be able to do that. I used to do that all the time with my Bold.

Even the Z10 it's possible though not as easy.
