I don't know why it is taking me so long to really like the phone. I even posted in the 8320 forums because I like the keys to that better. I pulled out my old 9700 that I haven't looked at in 4 years and was quickly reminded why I hated it....the 9700s keys were too small and too close together. I know everyone here is into the modern phones....and I want to you all to know I am a diehard Blackberry fan who veered of track intermittently over the years. I am not even liking the new passport mainly due to the keys. Does anyone else have a similar opinion? I like the big chicklet keys of the legacy 8300 phones. They were a boss to type on. The Q5 is just a tad too small for me keys wise, although it is a great phone.

I've not used a Q5 in person but currently use a Q10. The keys are definitely tighter than the Curve-type keys but after a while I got used to them. I say give it a bit more time. I used to type really fast on my old 8520 (even without looking at the keyboard) and I'm pretty sure I'll be at that level again. As for the Passport, with each video/pic I see of it makes want it a bit more lol
It's different from what's currently out there, making it a unique device that I just need to play with

I was a Bold 9900 user and still adore that keyboard. However, as for BB10 devices, I find the typing on the Q5 more fluent than on the Q10. In general however, and I think that could be what you don't like, the fact that the keys are not curved anymore but parallel makes a huge difference.

It's a simple limited phone, that's a fact. I had a similar BlackBerry with the old OS so I wouldn't be able to distinguish between this and a Q10. I am going to dive in either for the classic or passport. I miss the track more than intrigued of having a different keyboard

The Q10 is my first BlackBerry and I love the keyboard!

After using this for five months, I can now type freely without looking down at the keyboard. The contours on the keys really allow for typing by feel.

Typing is very smooth for me coming from the 8110 and the 9300. Particularly love the clicky sounds of the keys. Makes the keypad feel extra responsive. Honestly, the best phone I've ever had to date.

I think the keys were bigger on the Q5 then my Q10, just waiting on my classic

I personally had a BlackBerry 8520 and I loved the keys because they were more spread out, so it was an easy decision for me to get the Q5 since the keys are quite similar.

Even though the Q10 is a "better" device. They keys are very close to the Bold 9900 and a little closer together which made it harder for me to type on. Plus I don't like that "squishy" feeling they have. Rather have a "harder" keypad like the Q5. Makes it easier for me to feel what key I'm touching.

    Ok...so here is an update.
I had bought an 8320 online.......and unfortunately cannot get it to work with Wind so it cannot even be used as a back up phone. I will have to give it to my mom as she cannot wrap her brain around a touch screen phone.
I am getting better at using the Q5 for typing. I type pretty quick on it. The keys on the 8320 were just as close...I thought they were bigger based on the pictures and my failing memory lol (I'm only 37) but in person, the keys are spaced almost as equally.
I had a Q10 last summer..... I had gotten rid of it because I was heavily into certain apps back then and I hated the BlackBerry app store because I couldn't find any of my nursing apps I normally use there. At least with SNAP I have Medscape, which has made all the difference. If I could change anything about the Q5 now that ZI am getting used to the keyboard, it would be screen size for reading.
