I tried updating the latest update released few days back. Its not working either through wifi or using link. This seriously sucks. I am on Q5. Also my free space went from 1.5 gb to less than 300 mb. I don't want to use an autoloader or sanchesi to fix it.

Make sure you are using a good USB cable.
You might need to backup your data and reload using Link.

I tried it 4 times. Last time I didn't touch the phone, laptop or the usb cable. I very much doubt if it has anything to do with USB cables.

Backup with Link, reload OS or run autoloader, restore with Link.

Although a clean install is always preferable.

Same problem on my gf's Q5. Methods I tried to install the update:
    OTA.
    Link.
    With Firefox browser.
    Sachesi.

None of these work, all installations simply abort at around 30%. This is ridiculous. Can't believe I have to use an autoloader. Is it even confirmed that that works?

EDIT: before posting here, I created a thread about this here on crackberry.

I have a Q5. Yes the autoloader works.

I usually do updates with Sachesi (non-destructive) in a piecemeal fashion, but I wouldn't recommend that to a novice.

I know about autoloaders. I just don't want to update the phone every time with autoloaders. Its a tiring process to set up each and every setting over again every time. Why can't the normal update process work. Is anyone at blackberry even looking at this issue at all.
