There are times that my screen is unresponsive. I have to shut down then turn it on again for it to function. Do you know what would've cause this? Or is there anything I can do for this not to happen?

Sooooo the OP can still try and see what happens. It might, it might not...that's why we troubleshoot

After about 7 months, my q5 screen and phone became unresponsive. I would reboot and it would be good for a couple of days. Tried security wipes and again it would be good for a couple of days before starting to freeze again.

Took it back to the carrier. They sent it away to BlackBerry under warranty and it came back in 6 days with a replacement as they didn't want to spend a lot of time and delay in returning the phone.(probably a refurbished phone as it had no box). The replacement q5 is working great.

I know there are a lot of negative threads about BlackBerry customer service, but while I was disappointed with the q5's problem, I was very impressed with BlackBerry warranty service.

Hopefully, the OP's phone is still under warranty. If the warranty is going to expire soon, I would take it in to get fixed. In my case, the screen freezing just got progressively worse. Other than that, the q5 is a great under rated phone

When ever a client comes to me and says "this doesn't work" my immediate question to them is the following.

    Have you dropped it?
Have you spilt liquids on it?
Did you sit on the screen?

Ect most likely the client has done something to the phone. Otherwise it's just a factory defect and if you have insurance "contract" with your service provider they should cover the cost of fixing it for you since the phone should last you the duration of your contract.

This happens to me when I open Reddit in Motion and then I swipe up quickly to do something else. When I go back to the app, it crashes and my screen freezes. I can bypass it by pressing the power button three times to activate screen reader and then it works fine. Just press the power button three times again to turn it off.
