BlackBerry Classic owner here and I love my daily driver. However, I've always been attracted to the red Q5 and want one for WiFi and SIM swapping on occasion. Is it worth it?

This would be in addition to my Classic, which will remain my daily driver.

I'm on ATT network, so I think I could just move the SIM around without any other setup right?

Also, I found a brand new unlocked red Q5 online for $134.00 (good price I think).

You could but I would recommend against it. I've seen so many Berries selling online with a broken sim holder due to those infamous adapters.

I'm guessing your in the US? In Canada they've gone on sale brand new for $99 dollars. If you live anywhere near the border it could be worth the trip. I have a q5 but recently switched to a z30. The z30 is a great phone but the Q was no slouch either. I miss the keyboard and pocket ability of the little Q5 !

--Sorry just realized your looking for a red model, I don't think that one was at that price.

There's nothing you can do on the Q5 than you wont be able to on the classic.

I sometimes feel like buying the classic "just for fun" (i'm on passport) but everytime i think about it, i just cant really justify it..
I keep thinking about the moment I load up the phone in may hands... and ..... ye nothing.... still BB10 :|

you could try a Z30 maybe, at least you can see how the OS will feel on a touchscreen?

    only my opinion...

Just to let you know (in case you already don't) but if you're in the US and you want LTE, you need an SQR100-1

I think it's definitely worth it for a BlackBerry fan. I picked up an unlocked red Q5 last Fall for $159 during the big ShopBB sale and I love it.

I use it on wifi when at home. It's great for when I'm travelling abroad and I can pop in a local sim for those times something smaller and more basic than my Passport does the job.

Just received the 10.3.1 update on it last night and it makes it even better! More fits on the Q5 screen now as the app icons are smaller.

Speaking of pocketability, I just had my Q5 in my pocket and didn't even realize it until I reached my hand into my pocket to check lol.

Here's a pic of my red Q5 with the red bumper case I got for it. I recommend a case as it definitely improves your grip:

Awesome! So your model works in the US on WiFi, but just no sim can be used? I wouldn't mind having it as a backup phone (from classic to q5), but not sure I can find the red q5 in a compatible US model. Thoughts?

Go for it! I always wanted a Q5 and hope to get one soon. I have a Z30, Q10, and hope to get a Classic this summer too. The more BBs the better. Is it a splurge? Definitely. But there are worse vices to have

That model will work but will NOT receive LTE and most likely won't come with a US charger. Neither is a big issue if it's not your main device but if you spot a 100-1 for the same price get that one.

I've been shopping lately and came across a red Q5 at B & H Photo in NYC for $140. It's the -3 version so is for North America, but only does 3.5 G, not LTE at all, so ATnT should work fine.

BTW: I've seen a post here recommending a person using a Classic and adding a Z phone could try the nano sim in the Z's micro slot and it might work. They implied it worked for them, I think.

Maybe one of the experts here will address the issue for us?

    Good luck.

PS-I have a little "pocket rocket" phone of my own I fire up sometimes. It's a 9310 Curve with the little chicklet keyboard, 7.1OS, and it uses Verizon's towers. Got it for $50 at Walmart, and just hook it up on a VZW MVNO and I'm good to go. Like the previous poster about the Q5, I forget it's even on me.

With the Z10 and Q10 only a Nano sim can be put in (carefully!) the Q5/ Z30/Z3 and Leap are all spring loaded and must be micro sim or adapters but be wary of using adapters if you don't need to.

There's a couple Q5 on amazon in the sqr100-2 model that works on tmo in the us. Damn good deal, being only 140 with prime shipping. I stopped using my android after years away from my old trusty bold 9000
