The only gripe I have is the screen's inability to prevent dust ingress.

Otherwise it has been a very robust device having dropped it accidentally down 7 steps of a concrete staircase. It came through with a few minor dents on its outer edges.

Heavy user since 12 months, 3 falls on concrete floors without damage (thanks to a leather case), no connectivity issues.
Sometimes it's lagging 1-2 seconds, but overall the GUI is very fast.
    Would definitely buy it again.

I have had the Q5 since launch day and do not regret paying the 360 that I did.

Dust has collected under the screen but I sped up the process by dropping the phone moving the debris under the digitizer.

Also memory can be an issue - especially because most apps that are side loaded will not clear their cache.

I'm a heavy user and I rarely don't make it through the day. Unless I have signal issues.

I am also looking at the q5. The dust issue is concerning. Had a curve 9320 with the same issue. None of my other phones had this issue. Android, WP etc. Is this a common thing, the dust under the screen?

I don't understand how you would get dust under the screen? I mean the glass / plastic on top of the screen extends past the screen and goes to the corners. I can say with certainty that it has never happened with any of my phones. So I wouldn't worry.

Had it happen once. Think it was dust in the phone from the factory or got in from one of the ports.

Everyone. How's your Q5 battery? Mine is about 5 days old but the battery lasts about 4 -5 hours on 3G. Do I wait for the phone to settle? I'm on 10.2.1.2102 I'm asked to update to 2977. Will this update increase my battery life? Sorry for the questions. I'm coming from a z10. Left it because of the battery and got the Q5 because of the battery reviews I've seen here. I'm just a bit worried.

My battery lasts for two days, even though I am a heavy user.

Your battery problem has nothing to do with the OS version, but yes, I also experienced strange battery information in the first week (it never reached 100% and sometimes it showed 20% after only a few hours).
Charge the Q5 only when the battery status has reached about 6% (= when it's red) and just give the system 1-2 weeks to settle (the calibration).

I take advantage of this thread to ask a simple question: is the Q5 keyboard much inferior than the Q10 one as the reviews tell? I'm interested in both phones but I'd like the Q5 for the lower price and the longer battery life. The keyboard matter, however, is holding me back

I have both Q5 and Q10 and actually both keyboards make a little "click!" sound.
I find the Q10 keyboard a little bit softer, I personally prefer the Q5 keyboard.

Q10 has more internal storage (16GB vs the 8GB of the Q5) and slightly better overall-performance.

Can anybody tell me what's the best way to avoid dust under the screen? Any particular case or screen guard which reduces the amount of dust accumulation?

The BlackBerry hard shell case is a beast. It covers the sim/memcard slot, so no dust can go in from there. And I have a regular screen protector.

I've had my Q5 since the beginning of June and have no dust issues whatsoever.
