The BlackBerry Q5 is now available at a SIM-free (no contract) price of GBP219.95 from a high-street retailer.

That is a significant cut from the previous GBP279.95.

Let's remember that the Q5 debuted in the UK at a more-than-expected SIM-FREE free retail price of GBP349.95.

For several months it had stayed at GBP279.95 - possibly still too expensive.

Now it's available for GBP219.95. While it's a pity you can't pick it up for a nice round GBP199.95, it seems a much more realistic deal now.

All those BlackBerry executives who were involved in pricing BB10 devices at launch should be blindfolded and executed right away.

The retailer I'm assuming is CPW and it's quite common for their prices to fluctuate wildly. Just look at what happened to the Z10. Similarly the 9720 originally was retailing at GBP 169 then it went down to 99 now it's back up to 139.

Not sure how low the Q5 will go, but I think it needs to hit the 150-170 (or less) sweet spot ...

Would love to see the Q5 hit a price point of GBP199.95. Then I'd be very tempted.

But I'm not holding my breath...

Thorsten and Boulben have already left the building carrying sacks of ill-gotten loot. You'll have to put out a contract but I hear the fee can be excessive for such worthless targets.

The price bounce has happened and it's back to 219 for red and black models but strangely 129 for the white version (I decided to get one at that crazy price)
