    Hello,

I heard Q5 has a good battery life and all but to be honest I don't think so.
I charged it to the maximum and it lasted for 5-6 hours before turning red. All I used was BBM and that so with a low usage.

Is there anything I can do? Or should I go for a replacement or repair ( what ever the warranty covers).
Oh to add I am using it on 2g jst to save the battery and I have a 32gb memory card installed( I don't think it effects the battery. Does it? )

    Thannnks .

Even with constant usage, my battery lasts a day. My screen brightness is at a minimum, though.

My wife has a Q5 and has never complained about the battery. She will go for a full day without charging and definitely has moderate or more usage. She will also play Candy crush in the evening without having the battery drain that I have seen with my Z10.

My q5 has amazing battery life for me. I am a heavy business user. The Z10 would not last a full day (or Iphone 4s, or Nokia 920) but the q5 easily makes it through a long day. Lately I've been using my Z30 which is also stellar on battery life.

My Q5 lasts a typical day at the office (9-5) with moderate to heavy use. I would say that is pretty average.

My Q5 can generally go a little over three days before it's down to 25% battery or less. Moderate usage; a couple calls per day with two active frames open all the time (BeWeather and Battery Guru), and wifi and bluetooth are always on. BBM and text use is moderate, ie a dozen or so per day.

Unaima, how do you get to that screen for monitoring battery usage? I went into Settings > Device monitor but don't see that screen. I only see a pull down screen to choose for monitoring by Name, CPU or Memory.

    Thanks.

Gosh, I don't see that at all. After going into Device Storage Details, I only see the memory usages in different areas (Free storage space, video, pictures, documents...) I'm on Sw release 10.2.0.424, wondering if that would make a difference.

As a point of reference I can stream audio using TuneIn Radio for 8 hours on LTE from 100% battery charge to over 50% battery charge.

878, so what did the service center do to the phone?

Qwerty4ever, besides streaming audio, do you use the phone for anything else during the time? I wonder streaming audio using Wifi vs using LTE, which would suck up more battery... I'm on Wifi but I think my phone consumes more power per hr than 6% rate an hr.

It could possibly be your memory card. I bought a 32gb one for my z10 and it started draining my battery like crazy. Make sure you format your memory card when you insert it

My experience with streaming audio via LTE versus WiFi indicates LTE generally depletes the battery charge much slower compared to WiFi. During a typical day, not night when I listen to streaming audio, usually talk radio to fall asleep, I send & receive email (personal and professional), browse LinkedIn and the web, read various documents, mostly PDF, etc. Even during the day when streaming audio in addition to these other activities the battery charge seems to be better most of the time on LTE. Since my 5GB data plan seems to behave as an unlimited data plan I rarely use WiFi unless I need to remotely access an internal server via a secure shell session or I am in a poor LTE coverage area. This is on my BlackBerry Q5. On area where my BlackBerry Z10 outshines the Q5 is as a PDF and ePub reader simply due to the higher resolution and larger screen. If BlackBerry Bridge allowed reading these documents on the BlackBerry PlayBook, without artificially-imposed limitations on file size, I would be happier. I prefer keeping the PDFs and ePubs on the microSD card in my Q5 and synchronised with Box as a backup service.

Unrelated, the first company to invent a screen with the same size as on my BlackBerry Q5 but which projects the equivalent resolution of 1024x768 via in-screen eye-perception trickery will determine the next smartphone I buy. There is no reason such magnification is not already available and in-use.
