Even though I Passport my daily driver life, I enjoy going back to the early days and using for example my Q5 (Red) every now and then for 30 days or so. Part of the addiction/illness of loving anything BlackBerry. Now, I am faced with a 'natural' dilemma of simply having no room for an update with a Q5 that is all but 'empty'. No apps installed. 1.4 GB is needed to update and trying to think of deleting every possible app that is 'native' I can delete. Nothing is on the device. Have a 64 GB SD Card installed but of no use to the tiny space left to update the Q5 'naturally.' So, here we are, at the potential end of a beautiful era of youthful and colorful devices (The beloved Q5) where the update size is greater than the overall space that is functionally needed to run the little brother/sister of the Q10.

Any thoughts? Really want this update and trying to think how to best approach this update to experience it on the Q5, probably the last 10.3.2 update we'll ever see.

Any help is appreciated. In summary, nothing is on the device. Nothing, running currently, the 10.3.2.876 OS.

(PS. Didn't have time to upload a screenshot)

A lot of Q5 people are having this OTA problem. 2 suggestions..

    1. Plug phone into PC and run Link and try to update that way. Iffy now because you have already tried to update OTA so the Link update may not work.

    2. BETTER SOLUTION is to update via .2474 autoloader. This will clean install the new OS. You'll just have to put your phone back to the way it was before update.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Edit: have you tried to update via OTA? If not go ahead and use link and the update should work. I misread your post before and thought you had tried to update OTA. Good luck!

You're worth every 'dollar'! Autoloader, fresh, clean install worked with room to spare. Thank you!

Sometimes it takes 2 or 3 tries. The other option is OTA. I have never tried the autoloader routes.

I needed to delete some pictures and some app caches to finish the installation. It's ridiculous. Since 10.3.1, I think this is BlackBerrys way to tell all early device adopters, to finally upgrade a phone they obviously don't want to be associated with. I still managed to install and enjoy the update. Eat that BlackBerry!

I've never deleted anything off my Q5 for any updates. Fired up link, did a backup as a precaution and presto, no headaches trying to find room on the phone.

Yeah, for me it's become a ritual. Every time there is a big update 400mb + I do a security wipe and update via BlackBerry Link. So far I've still got over 2GB free space and running the latest software.

So while space is always tight, you just need a fresh start to ensure all works well

No worry's...connecting to link,or blend WILL not work...I am using a q5 myself I had to wipe out my blackberry 2 times...in the first time I tried and gave up after 6or7 tries, but then after the second time wipe I switched on the update via WiFi and tried again...And by luck it got updated...if my phone can be updated why can't yours...keep trying and do not loose hope...well ur net can be wasted because as mentioned it did not work for 6 or 7 times with it updated 30 percent ...
