Should it be charged before it is completely run down or just charge it every night ...I don't want to reduce the life expectancy of the battery.

You shouldn't let it run down, never let it die on you completely, I rarely let mine get below 40%, usually I keep topping it up.

I just read an article where it said for optimal battery life you should charge/recharge @ 40 and 80%. Not very practical to me. I usually have about 30% left at the end of the day before I recharge. So far so good.

Apparently, lithium-ion batteries don't have a memory, so you don't have to worry about restricting the battery's capacity by charging it too soon.

However, you can damage the battery by letting it drop below 20%, so charge it before it gets that low.

    Have same question...

I've been charging my BlackBerry Q5 everyday when it hits ~20% (usually around 9-10pm) for almost one and half year!

Does it really Hurts the battery?

    Because,
    1. I haven't came across any issue about battery / battery drain!
    2. I've been using AfterMarket PNY 10400mah / 1A output rather than OEM 0.8A, power bank 3 out of 5 recharges! Still no problem!
    3. BBVE ( BlackBerry Virtual Expert ) is showing my battery condition as good -- is it fake?
    4. My Avg battery life is 16 hr on a free day ( where I use my phone a 'lot' with minimum half dozen apps at once ) and 22~24 hr on a usual schedule ( where I use my phone mostly with Peeka-Boo manner + couple hr multiple apps / usually 3-4 apps at a time ). Is it normal?

    Can anyone help me out...?!

This is partially correct. While you can let the battery drain to as little as 20% it's not advisable to go lower than that. If you have 5 or 10 minutes to charge, use that time.

Keeping the battery between 20% & 80% in conjunction with keeping it cool, will help keep your battery running for the long term.
