I was just asking to everyone: What's the length of your Blackberry Q5 battery? Mine could stand a day easily on a normal use and when I watch a lot of videos and use it really heavily it could stand 7-8 hours without charging it. Waiting to see your answer !

I'm a pretty heavy user, usually downloading apps and games throughout the day, streaming music, texting, reading news apps, and floating around CB forums along with a few phone calls. I'm usually at about 35% when I plug my Q5 in at night after 15+ hours of usage.

I use it quite heavily, for Internet browsing, BBM, Twitter, FB and Music and it can easily go 12+ hours without draining. Its only dropped to critical levels twice: and I've had this phone since January. I don't see why people overlook this for the Q10

Maybe I need to check my settings because the way you're describing it to me, my battery is supposed to "live" longer on a heavy use

Battery life questions on the Q5.-img_20140331_190649.png
Here's my battery info for today. Today wasn't as heavy as usual. Today I made a few phone calls (each one 20+ minutes), downloaded some apps from Snap, texted, read the news, read a few pages of an ebook, streamed some music, streamed a podcast (30+ minutes), and browsed Crackberry forums. As you can see in the image, it's been off the charger for a little over 13 hours and still has 59% left with an estimated 20 hours remaining.

I also have my brightness turned down to around 20-30% because I've found that I can see the screen perfectly fine without the brightness turned up. I haven't tested the battery out with brightness higher so I don't know how significant my brightness settings are to overall battery life.

Additionally, I am in a good service area throughout the day so my signal remains pretty stable. I also do try to remember to turn off wifi when I'm in an area that I know doesn't have wifi that I will be using.

I feel like you should be getting better battery life though because yesterday I made it 15+ hours with 30% left when I got home to my charger and that included sharing my Q5's data via mobile hotspot for about an hour.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the battery last longer in a "clear" area, as in an area where the phone doesn't have to constantly search for a signal?
I find I can get 10hrs or so, but I work in a building with no windows.

Hey Q5 people, just wandering, is the Q5 longer lasting than the Z10? Thinking of getting one just for kicks, who knows might turn out to be my daily driver. Came from a long line of Bolds.

My Q5 lasts a lot longer than my Z10 which needed a charge in the middle of the day, even with an extended battery.

My Q5 has easily double the battery life of my Z10. Have never run out even on an 18 hour day of heavy use.

Oh and I have a question? Am I the only one that when I keep my q5 in my pocket, the battery overheats and I loose about 10 to 15% of battery?

I haven't noticed this with my Q5. I keep it in my pocket most of the day too. Now I'm curious. I'm going to experiment with this tomorrow while I'm at work and I'll post back if I experience a similar issue.

No issues here with overheating or losing battery while in my pocket. I've been off the charger since 9 AM and still hovering around 63% at 8:40 PM.

Battery life questions on the Q5.-img_20140403_115057.png

I had to give my bbq5 to the service center as the phone just refused to boot. Would boot to 99-100% but would freeze at that and not turn on. Realised it was a software glitch and needed an OS/firmware flash best done by the service center of BlackBerry as the phone is just 3 months old and under warranty.

Got my phone back with zero battery and had to manage through out the day by charging my phone in the car etc. Gave it an overnight full charge and the results of 2 hours of high usage in the morning has resulted in a drain of 25%. However the battery was much better in performance initially on the older firmware version ..424 pic attached)

A cool 24 hours with heavy usage. But with the updates to .537 and now. 2102 the battery performance has fallen to 60% of its original performance as was with .424
