Within 24 hours or so, I'll be switching from the Z10 to the Q10.

Yes, I know there is a difference in screen sizes, but the bulk of apps from Z10 to Q10 should work, no?

i plan on loading the device from scratch versus a switch device option. I always prefer from scratch.

What is your take on it?

One advantage you'll miss not doing a device switch is if you currently have any apps that would work fine on a Q10 but aren't listed as compatible by the dev in BB World.

There are lots of games that aren't for Q devices. Appwise, there are some. Flipboard comes to mind as one, can't remember others off top of my head right now.

You will always have a bigger advantage in app compatibility with the Z10.

Going BB10 to BB10 device, why not try doing a full device switch?

Best case, you have all your settings, app data, personal data, etc.
Worst case, you notice some suspicious performance and then you wipe and start fresh like you were going to do now anyway.

If you do device switch, with all the apps being backed up and restored, it can take forever. (I've switched two Z10s to Z30s so far, with full device switch via Link.) Uninstall any apps/games that don't rely upon local data. CB10, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter are all good examples of ones to delete since all you do later is sign in with your account to be back in action.

Not a bad idea, thanks. To be honest I only have 'online' apps, like CB10, Evernote, hence another reason I simply start fresh.

    Flipboard won't work with a Q10?
That's a shame. I am also switcing to a Q10 and Flipboard is definitely the app I use the most.

How could flip board work? The devs never intended it to be on a qwerty.

It actually works, it's just not available from app world. I have it sideloaded on my Q10 and it works fine.

I run flipboard on my Q10 but I sideloaded it. Runs pretty well. I don't mind it. Some things are squished but not a big deal.

Thanks, that's what I need to know. I had Z10 and am waiting for the Q10. Of course I meant side loading or simply downloading the apk.

I switched from a Z10 to a Q10 a couple of weeks ago. The keyboard and the battery life are amazing. I love the smaller size of the Q10 and for what I use the phone for I haven't missed the larger screen. Can't wait for the Q20 to come out now

That happened to me twice. Bought the Q10 and returned to the Z10. I was looking for the classic 9900 solid feel and felt like I was holding a Curve instead. And the LCD display on the Z10 is gorgeous vs the amoled. I am waiting for the Q20 now.

    Loving my Zed 10!!

I used z10 for a couple of months and tried to love it. I'd been on the verge of going back to my 9900 when, luckily, the Q10 was released. OS updates have helped both phones tremendously since then and although I don't think I'd find the z10 as frustrating as I once did, I still prefer the physical keyboard way of life.

Goes to show you that everyone does have different needs and preferences! Luckily... there's a BlackBerry for that

I'll pay full price for Q20 on launch day

I'm still amazed at how long the battery run time is on the Q10 as compared to the Z10. Very noticeable improvement indeed.

Just did the same switch today. Actually, that is a lie. I sold my Z10, really upset about the battery life. Then, seeing as I never had, went with a Nexus 5 and tried it for the week. Fast phone, but I just find the OS (and iOs for that matter) so disjointed, compared to BB10. This notion that I have to get all my notifications in a swipe down menu, compounded by the "going into an app, to take real action on a notification", is for the birds. Plus I couldn't get over the terrible calendar and not having the hub. I then decided that the nexus was going back. As a former Bold 9900 user, was pretty keen on getting a Q10. Picked it up this morning, and it has been outright bliss. I feel comfortable saying, #IamBlackberry #IamQwerty.

    P.S.

Didn't think it would be, but one of the biggest things I missed, was the Remember app. Also, the browser and being able to long press something and share it to remember or whatever I wanted. Very happy to read the story that Chen is in the hardware business for the long haul. I've now used iOS and Android, and BB10 is the OS for me.

Nice man! You know your a BlackBerry user when you switch to Android or iOS and then go back to BlackBerry because you know just how efficient BB10 is.

The BlackBerry Q10 is an amazing device..fits well in yours hands..feels solid..and the keyboard is simply amazing.

I was a Q10 user for almost 10 months and switched to the Z30 because I was having double typing issues in my Q10. I hope you don't get that.

I got to say I do miss the Q10's from factor. Maybe one day I'll go back to a QWERTY BlackBerry phone..bit for now the Z30 is perfect for me.

Z10 is good but Q10 is better. However it depends on how you use your phone. From personal experience Q10 is better because:

    - Just pull out and start typing to find what you want fast.
    - In one hand, your thumb can reach across the entire screen.
    - Smaller screen means markedly extended battery life. Great for travel.
    - Tactile feedback takes stress out of typing.

Those interested in productivity and heavy email use will probably prefer a Q10. Those who often use their phone to consume entertainment will prefer the Z10.

My Q10 dose 2 days between charges, though I do turn it off at night. It lasted 3 days with light use this week. I still use my Z10, but only on wifi. The one thing I like about the Z over the Q is the I can turn the screen brightness down more, which is good for reading at night.
I miss the keyboard shortcuts when I go back to the Z.
