Hey guys im currently using the blackberry 9900 (bold 4) its been working fine since 2012.. i was recently thinking to upgrade my phone
    and get a blackberry q10.

the thing is that i have heard some rumours that while transferring data from your 9900 to q10.. none of the data gets transferred while using the blackberry link..
and when u enter the bbm id none of your contacts gets transferred as well.. u gotta make a new id apparently.. thats what i heard...

Not true. I transitioned from a 9700 to a z10 with zero issues using Link. As with any device transfer/upgrade just make a backup first.

My move from 9900 to Z10 went without a hitch. Backup was not needed. Link did all the work.

Same result with the child's move from 9900 to Q10.

Yes. Everything transferred. Even some Docs To Go files and PDFs I had stored on the old device.

Z10 and Q10 are long out of production. You might be able to find one on Amazon or BlackBerry's web site.

Recognising everyone has a different experience, I can state, my transfer was successful. From a 9900 to a Q10.

For the record: an utter shame the Q is EOL . . .

Try Device Switch App. Worked flawlessly for upgrade to my Z10 and my spouse's Classic. From BlackBerry Torches

My Q10 received all from my 9900 and my passport received all from my Q except android, which I backed up using another program but just ended up installing new android since the screen and device were different, most required updates as well from what I remember but I always dabble in leaked O/S's

End of production. Still getting software updates and new features.

You are correct. Splitting hairs at this point, but correct.

With the latest updates, and I think going into the future the Q will be looked as an effective afterthought with little regard paid to the fact it has smaller screen real estate than its bigger siblings, etc. Unfortunate as I do believe it is a great form factor.

Contacts, calender and notes all go over as do you bbm contacts if you use your same I'd. No worries there.

As for q10, it's replaced by classic so no longer available except for new old stock or non carrier sites.

I've gotten use to not having belt and it does bug me but not as much as a larger classic so I'm sticking with it and once white classic lands here and my gf leaves her bold for it i'll see if I can live larger format phone for every day or stick with my q.
