CrackBerry is Under New Ownership and Relaunching in 2022 Beyond BlackBerry - Read All About It!
- So I am getting multiple multiple 'out of memory message' and odd effects now like the hub 'unpacking'; all sent and filed messages (set to 'hide'), and one reboot all my app folders were gone....
I made sure all my data is stored on my very large micro SD card. Then I found out how to get into memory, and deleted a huge bunch of apps. Then I rebooted. success! 8GB free :-)
But, after a couple of days and three reboots - my memory is back to 257MB free - system is taking 11.53GB?
I apparently have 5MB of user files - I don't know how - and 1.4gb of apps.
So what is sucking out my memory and making my blackberry suck? I've cut right back to try to make the bb work (I'm still committed to the keyboard, and I'm only using calendar (lots of data), contacts (LOTS of data - though since upgrading most of my contacts now have random names on the bb - so I often just open google contacts on the browser... sigh...), and using my work google apps account via the browser (I long ago gave up on the hub as worse than useless... sigh...)
I tend to have three google mail tabs open (inbox, starred, and action) and now my bb asks me quite often 'Are you happy to let google mail store GOOGLE MB of data'? - but even clearing the cache on the brower doesn't help?
any clues? If I have to do a reset, I'm araid you're just telling me to buy and Android - if I have to do two days of set-up again, I might as well do it on a new machine and save the rush when bb finally dies.
It's all very, very sad!03-23-14 06:05 PMLike 0 - So I am getting multiple multiple 'out of memory message' and odd effects now like the hub 'unpacking'; all sent and filed messages (set to 'hide'), and one reboot all my app folders were gone....

You got 8.X GB of data used in just 3 days. Use your device manager to see what apps seem to be filling up with crap. Probably something to do with Google APPS. Wouldn't know and don't really care myself as I never have less than 8GB free. I imagine it is your Google Apps though. Since it is not syncing rather than just downloading your email by the sounds of it.03-23-14 06:16 PMLike 0 - It's not the apps - unless I've really misunderstood - the apps are all listed and none of them above 80mb in the storage view. Have just rebooted and everything happy now so will look under the memory tab as the problem starts again (shame I can't keep the memory tab open while doing other necessary settings like switching wifi!)
BTW I'm overseas 'roaming in the rest of the world' and my bb is mainlining data totally uncontrollably so I have now switched roaming off completely - I agree most likely to be the browser trying to sync *all* my data offline I guess :-(03-23-14 06:44 PMLike 0 - PS only apps are calendar, contacts, browser (sadly these *are* now apps, not firmware :-()
For the avoidance of doubt, I now only access my emails in browser - offline functionality very limited... but better than hub!
And of course the hub - I've been tempted to delete hub in memory view a few times - that might be kill or cure! But where would I get my text messages?03-23-14 06:46 PMLike 0 - already done to 7gb free - System using 336.2MB, PIM services 202.1MB
I have, btw, disabled ALL facebook and twitter and linkedin connections to the hub (and deleted the apps - using browser again - sigh...)
Now from other posts, maybe I have to uninstall evernote Remember link (which I have come to absolutely rely on - the other app I use, but don't keep open)... can I still use the Evernote dedicated app?!03-23-14 07:41 PMLike 0 - already done to 7gb free - System using 336.2MB, PIM services 202.1MB

Storage, that's like where everything is stored. Its like a bookcase.
Posted via CB1003-23-14 07:52 PMLike 0 - Yes, fair point! The bizarre thing is that, while I'm down to only 3gb two hours after the latest reboot, none of the apps have grown in size - only 'system' in the little pie chart at the top...
system is now identified as 8.91gb
meanwhile, 'user files' is identified as 8gb - but is marked as yellow, and yellow doesn't show in the pie chart... (also, systems 8.91gb, user files 8gb, apps 1.42gb and free 2.85gb adds up to 21.18gb...
What the heck do I do now??
LOL - I'm so frustrated with this blackberry.... shame because the Q20 looks like everything I've said they should be... I wish they would make contacts, mail and calendar be permanently loaded into memory as 'firmware' again....03-24-14 07:40 AMLike 0
