    My BB has been sending loads of these SMS'es and wondering if this is related to BDS or something else that is on my Q10?

    Any ideas?

    I think this is a bug/or a virus related to Suretap......

    It seems to send one of more text messages on each reboot.

    I'm getting the same thing....

    My BlackBerry Z30 sent a text to 9008 on April 3rd.

    It has then sent texts to 632668787767833 about 30 times between April 10th and today. (happens each time I reboot). The text gets deleted from the sent box on the BlackBerry; but is visible in the Rogers One Number text messages as well as it's forwarded to the special email I have setup to be copied on outgoing texts in Rogers Extreme Text Messaging.

    I know this is coming from Suretap because..... Suretap generates log files in the 'misc' directory on the Blackberry device (go to file manager, misc - and copy the log file to a desktop computer - them view it) - inside the log file Suretap has logged a LOOKUP_ID. The LOOKUP_ID in the Suretap log matches the LOOKUP_ID in the text messages.

    I note the first 6 characters change each reboot - but the remained stays the same.

    [Here is a sample of the log file in misc directory on the Blackberry Z30 - I have redacted the LOOKUP ID by replacing with '9's and 'Z's] - as well - I've changed the links as I don't have enough posts to post links!!

    (continues with similar) .....

    and - at the same time a text message is sent by Suretap (I have extreme text messaging setup so I am copied on the texts to a special email address I have ) (Note the content of the text message has the same LOOKUP_ID as what appears in the Suretap log file!) ....

    To: 632668787767833
    EnLOOKUP_ID=999Z9Z99ZZZ999999999999999Z97Z

    I don't know if this is a real SMS destination (it might be a Philipines phone number) - either way Rogers wants to charge me for an international text and it uses one of my international text quota.

    As I said - this happens every time I reboot. The first six characters of the LOOKUP_ID seem to change on a reboot.

    Why is this happening? Is the BlackBerry Suretap executable infected with a virus or similar????

    If I remove the suretap application from the Blackberry - this sending of SMS messages stops.

    I've revoked the ability for Suretap to send and receive SMS messages in permissions and it stops sending SMS messages on each reboot - so I'm fairly certain this is coming from the Suretap executable.

    Will revoking this permission make Suretap stop working?
