I loaded a leak two nights ago, and was unaware that the autoloader would wipe my contacts. Apparently, contacts added to the phone do not sync to Gmail, but calendar appointments do. Wtf? I lost two contacts and can't get them back.

Contacts are 2 way sync'ed on BB10. I'm not sure if it's instantly after creating them though, it might be periodically.

Had you recently added those 2 contacts before loading the leak?

I added them a couple weeks ago. All I know is I got the rest of my Gmail contacts back, but not those two. I went to the people who's info I'd lost and got it back manually.

So now after adding those two contacts back manually, I check my gmail contacts through my browser and now they are there. Weird, but there you have it lol. I'm still going to look for a contacts backup app just in case though.

Finally found a free app in blackberry world that let me export contacts to my SD card. I feel much more secure about being able to maintain my contact info now.

I'm pretty sure you could have imported the contacts stright to the SIM card through the contacts app settings without the need for an additional app.

Tried that. Never worked. Not sure why. Contacts just won't export to sim for me.

Your contacts may have been added into an account other than your Gmail account on your phone perhaps? If that was the case, they wouldn't sync to Gmail. I've made that mistake before, and always make sure to click on the left tab at the bottom and select Gmail before adding a contact.

When you first add a Gmail account, it will take you to the Gmail login page where you you have the option to select what's synced. This includes contacts.

The app I downloaded copied my contacts to my SD card (memory card) not my sim. This just gives me an extra backup just in case. After losing some of my contacts, I feel more secure having them backed up more than one way.
