Good to know - thanks for that tip, Shuswap!

The app that allows you to toggle (some) Android permissions is called App Ops.

I don't think it "phones home" at all. In order to make it installable as an apk, the dev had to let the users accept all permissions at once, whether or not any of them actually come into play. Once you get past that step, you can turn individual permissions for each installed app on or off.

Ragbert, I could do that but on occasion I like to post or use the Gasbuddy app or check the local weather. So every time I wanted to do that it would be a pain. One thing I wasn't sure about is whether the app "phoned home" only when I actually open the browser or if it collected data all the time whether or not I opened it?

Just my $.02, YMMV ! ;-) sent via my Q10

I have stopped using my Q10 earlier this year, in favour of my much stronger, bigger, brighter BlackBerry Q30.

Some people and in some places, the Passport was referred to as Q30 by some.

No problems. Many here forget that I’ve owned and still own at least one version of every BBOS and BB10 hardware...LOL I thought it was a CB member requirement

@Chuck Finley69 beat me to it. But yeah, it's an alternate name for the BlackBerry Passport. Likewise, the BlackBerry Classic is sometimes called the BlackBerry Q20.

i prefer to stay with my Q10 for several reasons, but i am just recently not able to use skype, which is a must-have for my daily use (will not load after entering ID & PW) - up to last week chat worked fine (not using skype for calls)....i do realize support was dropped a while ago.
i have installed several skype APKs - no luck with any.
is anyone still using skype on their Q10...if so, what version?
    any other guidance is appreciated.

I haven't used my Q10 for a while, but Skype Lite was working well (for chat) last time I tried. I had downloaded the latest version using Colbalt's Playstore. Just ignore the error message that always comes up when first loading the app.

I last tried 8.15 just last week. Says needs Google Play Services but actually chat works fine to iOS device. Quite snappy too. I used to use an older version, I think it was 7.35 or something like that. a bit sluggish but that one for sure works, even for video and voice calls.
