    you can't. you will need to find another phone that isn't a blackberry. from what i read, if the app detects a bb, it will no longer work

    That's a bit of a reductive response. When the BB10 app is shut down, the Android app will likely still work (albeit in an unsupported way).

    If the concern is about having full support, yes, you'd have to go with an actual Android or Apple device.

    The android app apk will still work on bb10. And I think that the bb10 app will also work on 2017 (but with limitations).

    android whatsapp works fine in Q10.
    But i do like the native whatsapp cause it works best with bb hub and i love the way i interact with it.

    Honest answer is nobody knows nor will anyone know until the time comes. Will the Android apk still work? Possibly. Will they block it from working on non-supported platforms, as Snapchat has done? Possibly. Wait and see.

    On other threads the actual announcement has been posted and it seems to quite clearly say that native BB10 app will CEASE to function.

    So, check out the facts before you start throwing speculation around, please.
    Nobody is even sure that the android app (it's an old one) will continue to work.

    How did you guys get whatsapp apk to work?

    Mine says it needs google play services and then gets stuck in a looking for backup loop...

    I have all the required services etc installed already and the playstore.

    Does whatsapp need patching?

    I got whatsapp to work... simply download whatsapp from google play store for your bb10 device and it will work except being able to send pictures for which you can install WAA fixer for whatsapp and you will have full whatsapp support... you will not have Hub integration but when a message arrives you will hear a beep and the message notification will land up in the notifications tab under BlackBerry Hub. So yeah it will still be as good as what android folks have.... I feel sad for android folks the will never understand what Hub integration is.

    I just read an article today saying that WhatsApp will keep supporting BB10, Symbian, iOS 5-6 until June 2017.

    You have it till June anyway. After that just get the apk from snap or something. It'll be grand, look at skype it works fine
