Does anyone know of a simple app, preferably free, that will track my distance as I walk?

Thanks. I tried both. I like Endomondo but don't want to pay a monthly fee. I also tried the Android app that you wrote, the want permissions for my entire phone. That bothers me. Why do they need all of that?

I have Sportsrate and an android APK called noomWALK. Testing out to see how accurate they are. NoomWALK auto starts so you don't even have to turn it on which is why I am testing that one now and it's free.

Moves. Android app. Not happy with the accuracy. Gonna try that other one that was mentioned on the post above mine, the one that starts automatically..

I tried two times to compare the distance to my cars odometer and it was off both times, once badly. Edomondo seemed to be more accurate. Does that make sense?

Mostly up to your gps accuracy. It differs from time to time. Apps seem to have little effect on that.

That's what I was guessing. Why though would I have such different results from one app to the next?

Different time of the day, different position, less satellites. Pretty many factors are at stake.

I tried to install it. They want too many permissions that always gets me nervous. Why do the need access to my phone #, files on my phone and memory card, etc?
