I just noticed that pressing some of the keys will wake up the phone to the lock screen. The reason I had not noticed it before is that it only does it with some of the keys (mostly those on the left half of the keyboard). Is that by design? It is weird!

Please note that this happens regardless of whether the Swipe to Awake option is set to on or off.

Yes, pressing any of the number keys (0 - 9) will wake up the black screen. It's a type of shortcut for pressing the power/lock key on the top of the Q10.

Using my BlackBerry belt holster case, putting the device in and pulling it out will automatically turn the screen off and on. But, had not heard the option for waking the phone up by just picking it up in BlackBerrys. I think I have only seen that option on some Android devices.

Just in case others did not know- in 10.3, go to settings / advance interaction / Select Lift to wake. You also have the option Flip to mute and flip to power save. I do not know if this was in 10.2 as well.

It is a must have option for all keyboard phones so you can call emergency even when the phone is locked.
    Please God have mercy.

You can also swipe up from the bottom of the screen to wake the device. There is a setting to enable that.

I wonder if it is possible to turn OFF this feature.

I don't believe it is possible to turn it off. And beginning with 10.3.1 the U key with Enter jumps the device straight into the password field for unlock.

BlackBerry should really look intto the double typing issuue.
