Hey guys
Quick question on unlocked devices. I have a T Mobile branded phone which was unlocked via MEP code. When I entered my AT&T sim card in the phone it asked to enter the unlock code.
My question is, what if I entered a T Mobile sim card in the phone, will it still prompt me to enter the unlock code or will it work like normal since it's a T Mobile branded phone? I shouldn't need the unlock code in this case correct?
Just checking for potential compatibility issues.

If it asked for an unlock code with the ATT sim card inserted, it is NOT unlocked.
I don't understand why your unlocked device would ask for an unlock code when you insert another providers sim card. Once my devices are unlocked I can freely insert any providers sim card from the US or elsewhere and I'm good to go.

the phone is unlocked via the MEP code method, which means you need to enter a code to unlock it. I believe once a SIM card is removed, it requires you to input the unlock code again to use. That's my understanding of it
go to Settings/Security/SIM
all three needs to say "unlocked" to be an unlocked phone.

Sorry, you understand incorrectly. Once a device properly unlocked, it is unlocked permanently.

If you paid for an unlock code, you sure got ripped off (do go back to that person or store and demand a refund or proper unlock), unless you did it yourself, it's a soft-unlock.

No I was selling the phone for someone and they swore that the phone was unlocked but it kept prompting for the unlock code.

Mine is a T-Mobile branded also and after I unlocked it by MEP its fully unlocked and every other sim works with the phone.
Maybe you think it's unlocked, but if it asks again for MEP it certainly isn't!
