So would a Q10 be a good backup phone on today's T-Mobile network? Probably just used for phone and email and texting. I'd love to get one to use because I've never used BlackBerry OS 10. Just wondering if it work on cellular at all.

Q10 is fine on T-mobile, gets 4G LTE in my area and can also be used with a prepaid plan for a spare phone.

Yes it will definitely work that's what I use my mine, never an issue with connectivity. As previously stated above you still have access to BBWorld with a number of usable apps.

I use tmobile with my Q10, and it's my daily driver! Works exceptionally well!

As stated above you can do so much more than just the basics, which it does better imo than my android and apple devices

The Q10's sim is larger but T-mobile uses the punch-out style sim card adapter so you can swap it between phones.
