I am in a corporate environment and am in the process of convincing out IT personnel to deploy BB10 devices, in particular Q10.

I am getting pushback because of the sales personnel utilizing apps on android, such as Avaya Scopia videoconferencing client, and the unavailability of those apps for BB10.

How easy is it to sideload on 10.2? How do you get the apps from the google store?

Also, how reliably functional are the android apps when sideloaded? This could be a make or break for us deploying Blackberry in our corporate environment.

In my opinion, side loading has too many hassles to be a good option for corporate use. Apps tend to crash more often and have limited functionality.

If android does what the company needs in an efficient way, I would suggest they stick to that.

If you can, figure out how to do this better using BB10 and then sell them on that solution. Can't say i'd recommend side-loading for most users at this point due to how you load the software and all of the incompatibilities/glitches with some Android apps.

If there's really no other way than using the Android apps, then it might be Android is the way to go for your organization.

No BES. We used to use BES and were all Blackberry. Then came the android/iphone wave two or three years ago. Everybody pretty much is on android now.

I am the first one to jump back to Blackberry. The productivity gain is just no comparison with me anyway.

The answers you guys are telling me are not what I expected. I thought that sideloading in 10.2 was going to be a much more dependable and easier to do.

This thread may change things on the App front. Just know it is only a rumor, but there are screen shots now.

Side loading is easy. Though you'd need to test that Avaya app.

But what are you going to do when the inevitable demands to side load other apps, some of which don't work well comes up?

Specifically as I understand it -- any apps that make calls to "expected" Google services (ones you'd find via apps installed on a real Android device) -- will likely have issues.

Though there is an interesting rumor afoot. A rumor that access to the Google Play Store is coming on BlackBerry 10. Might want to read up on that too.

My opinion though is that if access to the Play Store comes, it might take some time to smooth out and older hardware like the Q10 and Z10 could get the shaft. Who knows. And it is just a rumor.

But we do not sell BBM to corporate users. We are an Avaya partner and sell Avaya Radvision videoconferencing solutions.

Well then I think your pretty much stuck with what they support, unless you can convince them to port or go native.

Right there is the reason BlackBerry is in the position they are in. It's a real shame unless the Play Store comes to the rescue. Here's hoping for you OP and the rest of us BlackBerry users!
