Hi guys, I will be travelling to the USA as of Thursday and had a couple of questions for the experts. I got my Q10 unlocked today and I also have a friend who provides a service here locally in Canada by giving US SIM Cards when travelling down south. I got a SIM card to put it into my unlocked Q10 with data on it. My question for you all is, when i cross into the border, do i just need to put the SIM card he gave me and it will work as if i am in Canada? Or do i need to change any settings? I want to make sure i keep getting my emails while I am in the USA without depending on WIFI. I hope someone can let me know if all I need to do is swap SIM cards and all will work normally.

    Thanks for your help

    Hello ThaRockTDC,

Assuming this SIM card has been activated, with a data plan, on a US carrier that supports the data frequency's for your Q10, it should just work when you pop it in and power up the phone. As for your email, I would assume you'll need to reconfirm the passwords for your email accounts.. the device should prompt you to do so.

I am going to be on T-Mobile. Will that support? I believe it would!

That would depend on what model your Q10 is and/or what carrier you use here in Canada.. if you are on Wind Mobile, I beleive t-mobile is the correct choice as they use the AWS spectrum, if you are on Rogers/Bell/Telus or their children I believe you want AT&T.. on the wrong carrier you may end up with edge service, if anything, but you won't get 4G..

Don't quote me on which carriers are which though.. hopefully someone else can confirm...

I am on Telus here in Canada. Will the type of service affect the access to my emails?

You likely won't get LTE.. so it won't be as fast as you're used to, but it should work.

I had 3G before. Didnt have a problem with it! My friend told me I should be getting 4G when I get to Vegas but just not in Plattsburgh where I'm flying off from.

You will probably need to change the APN for your data to work.

I did read about APN settings. Where would I be able to find the correct APN settings?

Travelling to the USA with my Q10-img_00001378.png Go to Settings>network connections>mobile networks and the press the bar on the bottom of the screen. Enter in the APN as it looks in my pic
