My Z10 and Playbook could do this so I am pretty sure the Q10 can as well. You need a micro-hdmi I think...

Yes. I connect my Q10 directly to a projector.
The micro-Hdmi cable was just $4 on Amazon.

Maybe a dumb question but does your projector take HDMI? If yes, is it set to the HDMI connection and not say VGA?

Some projectors won't show the image unless you connect the cable and the Q10 before turning on the projector.

I have a Optoma Projector, brand new, The screen shows searching for a few seconds, then it will say no source found, is there a setting on the phone that needs to be set first?
I tried to plug the cable to the phone first.

Does it work when you connect the cable to a tv?
Or is it just an issue with the projector?

Try the HDMI directly connecting to the TV. If that works then contact the projector manufacture. If not then try another cable on the TV directly. Rinse and repeat.........

Um.... I dont have a TV. I have a cable direct from my phone -micro USB- to the projector which has a HDMI end,
I would buy another cable, although this is a new cable, but I assume I'm missing 1 step...

You have the micro USB on your phone connected to the projector HDMI with an adapter?

You need to use the hdmi port on your phone for the output. It doesn't output streaming video through the usb port. You need a micro hdmi to hdmi cable.

You need micro-hdmi cable, and use the plug closest to the top of the device, not the micro-usb one.
