Hello Crackberry,

Coming from iOS, the one app I'm addicted to is the podcast app. Is there a naive/sideloaded podcast app that works as well pn the Blackberry Q10?

Did the podcast app on iOS have some special features which made it good in particular? One popular Blackberry podcast app is Nobex, found in BBW. Plays radio too.

+1 for Nobex. It manages podcasts very well and they'll even add missing feeds that you suggest.

I use bPod. Works great for me. Used to use Podtrapper ported. Now transferred all my subscriptions to bPod.

Stitcher Radio. Awesome podcast app. Even keeps track of your total amount of hours listened.

I've been using stitcher since 2010. I had it on a palm pre plus that I had for a couple of months. absolutely awesome podcast app. You have to get it through the amazon app store app. Can't get it through app world.

Another vote for Nobex on the Q10. It reliably downloads subscribed podcasts, it remembers where you are in the podcast when closing/restarting the app at a later time. It's free, in the BlackBerry World store, so you've nothing to loose (other than time) by giving it a try.

Time is precious. Get stitcher. Remembers where you were even if you close the app. You can have different playlists for different types of podcasts, it downloads new episodes for you if you click that setting, it also has fast forward and rewind 30 seconds buttons. It's nice to fast forward through your shows if they use commercials for their podcast.

Nobex also saves your place.

I usually prefer to use a native app, though that is getting a lot before with 10.3

Honestly....no. So I'm actually saying Stitcher is better without trying the others. BUT Stitcher has been around for ages and I haven't heard anyone mentioning it here. Maybe Nobex IS better but I don't think they support the main podcast I listen to: MMAJunkie Radio

You should be able to play any podcast in any player. They are just RSS feeds so you may have to manually add the feed for some podcasts. But there should never be a feed that you can't play.

I actually still use an iPod for podcasts but I also have them on my phone.

The best podcast application on android is Pocket Casts. Design and best features!! It is a paid app but worth the try.

I've tried a bunch and found bPod fits the bill for myself as well. Autoresume, downloads, and most of the other standard iOS / Android podcast app features

I know exactly where you are coming from. Everyone is talking about Nobex, and unless I downloaded the wrong app, Nobex is around 3 generations behind what other podcasts apps offer on iOS and Android. It doesn't even seem to have basic functionalities like playlists, which is what most podcasts offered by the second generation! If I am wrong, please do tell me.

Pocket Casts, BeyondPod and DoggCatcher are the most popular on Android, so you should try those out (via Snap). Personally, Pocket Casts is way better than the other two. A word of warning on Pocket Casts is that the external controls on my BackBeat Go 2 headphones didn't work with the app, but it used to work fine on my Android phone.

In my view, there are only three "4th generation podcast apps" and they are Pocket Casts (Android/iOS), Instacast (iOS), and Downcast (iOS). From what I've seen of Nobex, it's a 1st generation podcast app and nothing like the ones I listed in this post. Those with experience with Nobex and Pocket Casts can correct me if I am wrong.

I am going to try bPod, and hopefully that will have the features I want.
