Like cheque deposits where you use the app to deposit the cheque into your bank. RBC has this as well

You can do that also, but you might need an Iphone.

you can , CIBC allows depositing chq by photo.

It's a Canadian thing. Tangerine was the one who first piloted the edeposit idea if I'm not mistaken

The Android app works well, and the app has been steadily improving. E-deposits of cheques works great and the latest version is quite pleasant to use. You'll have to either find a copy of the apk , or more preferably, install snap and get it directly from the Google play store.

You should get the Android version of the CIBC app. And the e deposit thing works quite well.
For those of you who use CIBC app, do you find that you often have to log in "twice" at all?
