I fixed my PIM services issue! What I did was get rid of Facebook from my accounts. That took about 10 mins for it to finish removing it. Before I removed it I took a look at my contacts and it said I had over 8000 contacts. When it was done I had about 2000 contacts. Next thing I did was to go to settings in my contacts and turn off all accounts like Twitter, Hotmail, Gmail and Yahoo mail. I reset my phone (Not battery Pull) and my contacts went to about 900. I checked the PIM services and it was back down to 1%.

Given the various accounts I've read, it does appear that contact and/or calendar syncing is typically the culprit.

Glad you got a handle on yours.

Phone has been off charge since this morning and doing nothing I feel like the battery is just draining for no good reason...does this usage look normal to other Q10 users?

From the home screen Go into settings, then go to accounts and you will see all your email accounts and other accounts! Just go to Facebook and delete!

Think I've sorted it, haven't re installed anything, went through changing sync times for different email accounts, didn't make a difference.

deleted whatsapp, did a battery pull...not sure which one resolved it, it's only been 15 minutes but I suspect it was since the BlackBerry Virtual Expert update appeared that my battery has been having unusual drain so maybe I needed a battery pull after upgrading that.

anyone struggling with **** battery lifetime, disable location services! in just an hour the battery monitor says my estimated lifetime is now 3+ days
you can also disable network searching, i found it helps.

for example if you have a low connection it is always searching for a better one, but if you put it on manual it will stay at the low bars until you manually search for better. There is no need for a constant search if you arent constantly on a voice call.

    What network searching - WiFi?

There are lots of different kinds of "networks".

    Mobile networking
Settings - Network and Connections - Mobile Network
    Then make the scanning Manual.

Some people say this doesn't help but it did help me

I had a battery drain/ heating problem after the 10.2.1 update, I did a few restarts yesterday and my Q10 seems to be getting back to normal. I have Facebook installed, but I have notifications, calendar and contact sync disabled.

I had the same issue with my battery draining reallly fast after the last upgrade. My pim services was killing the battery. I shut off the location services and pulled the battery. It seems to have stopped the drain.

Instead of deleting apps a better solution is to take control of the syncing schedule.

This is the PIM service synchronizing your inbox and contacts list with services like email. BlackBerry is concerned that there will be discrepancies. PIM is not unique to BlackBerry either. I had 2GB of data used recently while sleeping and the phone was on wifi.

Go into your account settings for each email account. One at a time select email, calendar and contacts. Scroll to the bottom and set syncing to once every 24 hours or manual, your choice.

Would that mean that you would get ur email only every 24 hrs?

No, that means that changes to your email account will be synced once in 24 hours. You will see incoming email as soon as it arrives.

First, check if you use pop or imap for your email accounts. Imap is way better for a mobile usage and will slow down your battery drainage. You can keep the 30 minutes default sync.
Second, PIM doesn't mean you have to check only your email settings, but your calendar and contacts sync too.

Only if you have bad network or in the transport. Otherwise, it's perfectly ok.

How many accounts ? Social, email, calendar ? Imap or pop ? Sync interval ?
Check also you app permissions : Settings > Security and Privacy > Application Permissions
For : Run in background, calendar, contacts, Email, Connect to BBM, ...
The easy way is to wipe your phone and,of course, don't restore it and start ton configure it step by step.
There is also the question of your battery usage... did you keep your phone plug in when you use it ? if so, it's bad. Wait for the battery to be drain to charge it to 100% without using it (at night obviously).

The sync for contact, twitter or Facebook will take 1 to 2 days after being set. Calendar is often pretty light, emails are not. When you first set your emails account, which Initial Retrieval Amount did you select ?

Last but not least, in your emails settings again, click on the Edit Folder Settings at the bottom and sync only what your need.

Best way to minimize battery drain on sync is to forward all your email accounts to one account and only sync that account on your phone.
