Was bored last night and took my Q10 apart. I've done it a few times so it took about 5 minutes to get apart and I colored the back of the keyboard and the part that attaches to the keyboard with a red sharpie. Looks way better in person.

Not sure yet. The keyboards are cheap so the possibilities are endless. And my Q10 is on sprint so I need to keep switching it up since it doesn't look like I'm getting a passport or classic anytime soon. my phone is currently white with a black frame and constantly changing.

I really like what you did there. My white battery door has a little crack at the bottom and was thinking about replacing the top part that is around the camera black, so I can get a black battery door. Any particular supplier you'd suggest. And is that top part simply just replacing the 2 screws, or are there any potential ways to mess up the device there? Lol

You are on to something! How cool would it be to have a setting to change the back light to any color, to change things up.

To replace the top part where the camera is you just use a T3 and unscrew them and it slides straight up. I usually order my parts through amazon. Next time I take it apart I'll do a write up. I'll use my 9630 to take the pictures. Lol
Red backlit keyboard-img00039-20150217-1609.jpg and there's white with a black bezel. And a little clearer shot of the keyboard. The screen on low is still bright enough it makes the keyboard look dim but is pretty red in person. Unfortunately yoy can't change the leds that ive seen. So whatever color marker you have is what you're limited too lol

Well, it couldn't be a feature as the lights themselves don't have the filter...

Anyway, this is great work bud! It'd be even better if you could youtube the entire process.

I love homemade mods like this.

I'll remember that for next time. Didn't even think about posting a youtube vid. Once I get some funds I'll buy extra parts and do it all over lol.

I did that on the outside, using a blue marker, just to make the number keys stand out, like a lot of other PKB phones have ...

Until of course, the blue wore off...

Thanks for sharing. Just got a new Q10 keyboard in the mail, to heal the double-typitis of my old daily driver...

I also colored my Q10 keyboard but I changed it back to white because it made the back light too dim for my taste.

That looks neat! I dunno if it's just the pictures, but it looks on the dim side. How does it fare while texting in the dark?

Yea the pictures aren't great. Took them on my 9630 and my galaxy tab 3. It's a little dim but it doesn't bother me. I colored heavy on it so if you don't do as many layers it wouldn't be as dim. I like it though because I'm in the dark a lot and the white was bugging my eyes lol
