Recently, when I plug in my Q10 to charge it, the lightning bolt symbol will appear/disappear. This happens when the USB cable is moved ever so slightly. The following message then appears on the screen: ?To charge your device faster, use the charge that came with this device.? My battery life is down to 5 hours and a full charge takes about multiple hours. BlackBerry passed the buck to Telus and Telus told me that the only option I have is to buy a new phone. Purchasing a new phone just isn't financially feasible at this time. My phone is just over a year old.

Has anybody else experienced this issue? Is it possible to have the USB port replaced?

I am always amazed with unbearable ease of existence demonstrated in 'solutions' they give to customers. Would not be a problem to say we can not help or we don't know how to help!
Most probably the problem is your USB plug or/and jack. Changing a cable will help to found out is it a USB plug, but unfortunately it's usually not.
If changing cable doesn't fix it, then most probably it is your USB jack. You can try to examine the jack with magnifying glass to see is there any damages visible. Anyhow for a problematic jack you need to go to a service to fix this.
There is also smaller possibility that you have a problem with your battery, or battery's contact on the battery or on the phone. You can try to clean them with soft cloth with a drop of alcohol to clean contacts. If you have a spare battery you probably already have tried to switch battery , if you didn't, you should have tried that. For the last thing (the phone's contacts for battery) help of a service is required.
I hope you will fix this!

you could always buy an extra battery and external battery charger, which is what i did. also if you have insurance on your phone, you might be able to replace it. keep an eye on your phone though, mine started having charging problems, and i would up having to get it replaced because it wouldn't turn on after a while. good luck.

    I had the same problem....
    The charger was the problem.
Bought a new one and one month now everything is absolutely fine ( no message any more) and the charge doesn't last forever

I had the same problem once. Replace your cable and see if the lightning bolt and message issue stops. If it doesn't it will be your jack in your phone. I tried everything but in the end had to get a new phone. Fortunately I got it from Verizon and have the insurance so was able to get another no problem.

I had the same problem and it was the USB jack. If you have a laptop or computer, plug in the cord and if it charges properly, then its not the cord or the phone.

It is one of 3 possible things:

    1) faulty USB cable, try a new one
    2) faulty USB port, in which case, there are some places who can solder it back into place, but at what cost? I'm not sure
    3) faulty wall jack, unlikely, try a new one anyway, just in case

TELUS is usually pretty good to their loyal 'Segment A' clients. Try pushing it through their 'Loyalty & Retention' department and they will likely work something out for you.

    Thanks for your response!

    1) I've got 3 USB cords and the problem occurs with all of them.
    3) I've tried plugging my phone into numerous wall jacks with the same problem occurring.
    2) I think *this* is the problem. I have the device protection with Telus but, unfortunately (and I didn't think I'd *ever* say this and please restrain yourselves), I don't think my next phone will be a BlackBerry.

It's unfortunate to say but other than a few extra bells and whistles, I liked my Bold 9700 better than my Q10.

Spare battery and charger never need a cord again! When I go out I always have a spare battery with me which has come in very handy at times.

My phone's battery life (fully charged) is just over 5 hours. I'd probably need 2 extra batteries to get through the day.

Another Q10 owner, having just found it in the rainy day drawer I wanted to recover 2,000 blurry old photos and the common fault of no working USB presented an obstacle.
An external NX1 battery charger/powerbank means I can power the phone despite broken hardware, extract battery, charge and put back in the phone,

To save everybody wasting as much time as I did do not bother trying BB Blend, BB Link, Bluetooth or anything other than copying to a new blank SD card.

Blend and Link cannot authenticate as the BB servers have been dragged behind the barn and shot or something.

With no USB port use the file browser to copy internal storage items and paste onto the SD card, job done.

Back in the drawer with you!

I have exactly that (a total of 3 batts) for my Q10. It too has a broken charge/usb port. The previous owner "stored" the usb cable plugged into the device, wrapped the cable around it and shoved it in her purse. My solution was to just get an external charger and have extra batts. A typical batt charge lasts me closer to 6 hrs. So, 2 batts are good enuff for my day. I always have a fully charged spare with me, and another one in the charger ready for use at any time.
