- I've seen several comments asking about a thread for Q10 noobie help so lets start a Q10 Tips and Tricks Sticky now. It was a great source of info and help on the PB forum. It'll be a nice central thread for us beginners and experienced users alike.
So how about it? You Q10 vets out there start sharing. Don't worry about the obvious either, as we all know, what may be apparent to some is not to others, especially those that don't read the User's Guide

Here's the PNG if you'd like to save it and do the same: http://forward-thinking.net/BlackOut.png
Get your old BBOS ringtones back : Missing those classic ringtones from your old BlackBerry? Here's how you can get them on BlackBerry 10 | CrackBerry.com
Don't forget those keyboard shortcuts! 'T' = Go to top of list, 'B' = Go to bottom of list, 'SPACE' to scroll down by 1 page, etc. This is one of the primary reasons I waited for the Q10, the accessibility benefits can't be overstated enough here!
Get some Android apps sideloaded up, it really helps with some of the big name apps missing from app world. A few apps I've installed on my Q10 are: Amazon Kindle, AndroIRC, Flipboard, Google Maps, Netflix, Trillian, Words With Friends, Youmail. There's plenty of tutorials around on how to do it, and many of these android apps work great on the Q10!

- The most important thing I had to learn (after almost an hour of completely failing to use the device at all), was this:
Swipe lightly!
The home screen gesture, hub gesture, unlocking, etc. all completely failed for me 30x in a row. The knowledgeable store rep watched and said "I think you're doing it too hard" and did it himself first try with a light flick. Now I do it correctly 80% of the time and improving over time.06-11-13 08:19 AMLike 3 - Here is a long list of shortcuts from the CB team:
The full list of BlackBerry Q10 keyboard shortcuts | CrackBerry.com06-11-13 08:42 AMLike 3 - Got mine yesterday. The thing that surprised me the most was to find that it allows one download of a BlackBerry Protect backup file from your old phone, then it removes that option. I was able to restore all my old memos, text messages, and contacts. I wish I had discovered that before I synced my contacts from VZW Backup Assistant because I ended up with duplicates on some, but was happy to get the other data back. I did not want to use Link since I didn't have that much that needed to be transferred anyway.
Its at the bottom when you select BlackBerry Protect from the Settings menu.06-11-13 08:46 AMLike 3 - I find one thing very helpful in the calendar (which is not on the list): while creating a new entry, you can use ENTER for jumping from one entry field to another - you can work your way through until you reach the bottom, while typing the required information in the relevant fields. In the date field you can move forwardnvery easily with SPACE! This trick really replaces the trackpad in the calendar!06-11-13 09:02 AMLike 10

So handy, no other OSes as quick as this.

Thank goodness there is Crackberry! These guys (and gals) are good.rotorwrench likes this.08-19-13 10:41 AMLike 1
