    Hi,
I was told that BB Q10 (SQN100-3) will not support 4G in India.
But strangely my AirTel 4G SIM when inserted - it shows 4G LTE. So, my question is that is the display fake (i..e just saying that the network is available) and will not give actual 4G Speed?
Any comments/ input will be appreciated
BTW - if it actually gives me 4G I will be happy Happy HAPPY

How is the 4g signal compared to 3g? Is the signal reception better?

Where exactly in India are you?

Most Airtel LTE is Band 40 (which won't work on a BlackBerry, because it's stupid), but I've heard some of it is Band 3 (which works on some models).

Hey, indian version of q10 doesn't support 4G, whatever it is showing on your screen is not legit I think, if you really want to know whether your q10 supports 4G, go to settings>about(general)
At last you can see LTE bands capability, if you see
    "No information available"
    Say sorry to 4G...
    Cause it doesnt support one...
If there are any bands, then yes, say go!

I'm from Pakistan. When I purchased Q10 they said the same thing. But now I realized my phone does have the LTE support and supports my local 4G Bands. So yeah. Yours 4G is indeed a real deal.

I asked a person who fixes software problems of mobiles about 4G for my BlackBerry Q10 ,so he said that my mobile has to update to use 4G. But my question is should I directly buy a 4G sim or update it? (I am using latest BlackBerry10 os)

Airtel provides 2 types of LTE connections, FDD LTE and TDD LTE. TDD LTE requires band 40(2300 MHz) while FDD LTE requires band 3(18000 MHz). None of the Q10 models have band 40, while the SQN 100-3 has band 3 to support the FDD LTE which is available only in selected locations in India at the moment.

4G is a hardware thing, updating your software will suddenly not add 4G band capabilities to your phone. Damn, I do hate people who give wrong knowledge to others.

Yes. you are right. Q10 does support 4G in India - I have personally checked it in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bhubaneswar...
BUT does not work in Kolkata.
For those who think it is not legit or something, let me clear one thing - it does detect the 4G Network on those locations - but not in Kolkata. So, obviously the hardware compatible for those location's 4G network is in the device...

That's because Airtel uses 2300 Mhz band in Kolkata which the Q10 does not support
The Priv is the only phone to support that band
    DTEK50 will be the 2nd
