I'm looking into buying a Blackberry Q10 on ebay to use on my existing verizon plan... the phone seems to have a sim card slot, but I can't figure out if I need to have a sim card inserted to activate and use the phone (i'll only be using the phone in the US). I've never used a sim card on any of my cellphones before, as I've never had on with a sim card slot. Will this phone work just the same in the US without a sim card??
    Thanks in advance!!

You need a SIM card for LTE on Verizon.

The SIM is to provision the device for LTE. You can walk into any Verizon store and get a SIM for free. They'll even activate the phone for you, or you can have one mailed to you. It's a pretty easy process and it gives you the added luxury of LTE speeds.

The slot also allows you to use a GSM SIM for international travel as well, so it's the best of both worlds in that instance.
