I think those going to the full qwerty are missing out on the best keyboard in all of smartphones. Seriously. This z10 keyboard is AMAZING

    I've gone from a 4 year iPhone user, to a 9900, to a Z10...

Touchscreen wise, the Z10 keyboard is ten fold better than the I phones keyboard, my typing speed is good. But I'm afraid that nothing will compare to a hardware blackberry QWERTY. I used to be able to hammer out text messages and BBMs on my 9900 without even looking at the keyboard and I hardly ever had a spelling mistake.

What I do miss, greatly, is the track pad. I'm funding selecting text for copy and paste, on the Z10, quite hard. Always a letter out or something small like that.

Surely the q10 is more expensive to manufacture...

The glass slabs are a windfall bargain for manufacturers.... so easy to manufacture.

That said, the slider phones... like the Samsung Stratosphere is very cheap... I'd love to see a high end android slider, though.... that would probably cost you!

It's unfortunate that there is no place for a trackpad in the future of BBRY, the loss of precision is a shame. The "hover" feature that I've seen on some recent android devices somewhat makes up for the lack. SG IV and Sony Sola, and perhaps others had this feature. Hope that something like that get's incorporated in BB10.

Yeah, I definitely believe that the Q10 will be more expensive. It seems like it just has a lot better quality of hardware to it...and good point on bringing up how the 9900/9930 are still the same price as they were when they were released.

    Looking forward to the Q10!

The hover feature isn't really functional to me? More like a "Oh cool" feature but no real use yet.

Tough to see a device like that being popular enough to make it worth producing, I think for a slider they would need to have a 4.2" display and they would have to work hard to minimise the thickness and for it to have a better keyboard than the one on the 9810 which was worse than the 9900 by a long way and if anything was worse than a curve-style keyboard too.

The frame is CNC'd from stainless steel. This means it's not forged or cast steel its a solid block of steel that's milled down so it will be super strong but it's also more expensive to produce.

Sure it might be expensive to make but I think it would be wrong strategy to price it above Z10. Heck Z10 is not cheap either. Right now they should be concerned with getting as much units in ppls hands for long term future and not profit margin for short term gain.

If I understand correctly, full touch should be cheaper than a qwerty phone right?

Still they make R-Series and Curve de vices th cheapest? In th or, would it be possible to make an entry-level touchscreen phone even cheaper than R10?

I have tried similar phones. I am much faster on a 9900. So, I would expect to be faster on the Q10. I presently have the Z10 and love this phone! I go very fast on the Z10.

I'm sorry but the z10 4.2 screen is a must, more real estate for better viewing on every single thing, games, videos, browsing etc.The keyboard is amazing, extremely fast and accurate, forget the qwerty. In general phones with keyboards are usually built better cosmetically. Battery will be great however, and as for the oled screen meh, I'm loving the screen on the z10 looks pretty fantastic to me.

It's also got a bigger battery which you might assume would be more money to produce depending on production volumes I suppose

Hmm q10 will be same price as s4 I wonder what will people buy. They have to already price it to Z10 or I doubt a lot of people will jump ship. Heck the Z10 keyboard is amazing so I doubt I would pay a premium for keyboard and also compromise in the whole bb10 experience with smaller screen. I hope I am wrong as I have been supporter of bb10 since day one of its release.

The truth is all mobile phones are way way way over priced. A machine shoots out one of these Z10s in what like an hr? A strip of stainless steel costs about 3 bucks. Buttons take more time yah but no way 50 dollars a device more. Z10 was cheaper to attract new and returning customers, Q10 is to please all us blackberry lovers who need a keyboard

During my early days in school i worked at an electronic gas pedal manufacturing facility and helped the process engineer setup an automated circuit board assembly line... spits out 12 boards every 25sec.. the actual building (placement of components) onto the board is done by a machine called a "pick and place " which can pickup and place roughly 25,000 components an hour, and there are 4 heads doing that in one machine... building electronics is a very fast and efficient process now a days
