Is it just me, or are there others that thought that the Q10 was gonna be $50 less than the Z10, not $50 more. I'm not criticizing, I'm just surprised!

I originally thought it would have been cheaper, however, when you think about the construction of the phone, as you've mentioned above, it does make sense that the Q10 is more expensive. I think the build quality of the Z10 will feel more inferior to the Q10. Looking forward to having both in my hand in the shop when it launches in the UK.

Um, why would you expect it to be cheaper?? Oh, because it doesn't have the big "cool" screen? Let me see, what's more expensive, a sheet of glass with a plastic back or precision cut strips of stainless steel, 35 buttons, each with their own sensors, a smaller, but more expensive type of screen (SuperAMOLED), and glass weave back cover. I don't know, this is a toughy... ;-)

I know the media have brainwashed everyone to think that "full touchscreens are the future, it's so cool, anything that's not a full touchscreen isn't cool!" But there's nothing about those external features that make them more expensive. Obviously the internals for a lot of these "hot" new phones are more advanced than the internals of older phones that are not slabs, but it's not the fact that it has a sheet of glass in the front that makes them more expensive. I honestly feel like more time, effort, r&d, and money is put into constructing an actual phone with actual buttons than just slapping a piece of glass onto a frame and slapping a plastic back cover on it...

And when it comes to the Q10, it has all of the same internals as the Z10, and even all of the external components (touchscreen, front facing camera, proximity sensor, etc.), plus in addition to that, it also has a keyboard. So honestly, there's no way something that has more will cost less unless it's backwards day or something...

The truth is all mobile phones are way way way over priced. A machine shoots out one of these Z10s in what like an hr? A strip of stainless steel costs about 3 bucks. Buttons take more time yah but no way 50 dollars a device more. Z10 was cheaper to attract new and returning customers, Q10 is to please all us blackberry lovers who need a keyboard

The profit margin has to be about the same. If it costs more to make, it'll cost more to buy. Regardless of how "overpriced" you think it is. They're not going to spend more time and money on a device and sell it for cheaper.

Besides the construction of the device, I believe it is also the fact that Carriers know that people who absolutely need to have a keyboard on their device will get it regardless of if it is $50 more.

The reason I picked up the Z10 the day TMO released it in the US was, in part, due to the low cost ($531.99). I had originally planned on keeping my 9900 until Q10 released. I find it hard to imagine that the Q10 would be cheaper. Hopefully, TMO will offer both phones at the same price, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was $50-$100 more. You never know with TMO. The 9900 was way overpriced by TMO (compared to other carriers), but still the best phone I've ever had and made me sad to list it on ebay.

2100mAh battery, better materials, OLED screen, I expected Q10 to be 50$ more expensive.

I am going to guess and say that discounted carriers like Virgin and Koodo will have Q10 for 600$, while Z10 is selling for 550$.

As of today, the 9900 costs the same price as the Z10 (regular price) on T-Mobile/Sprint/Verizon and At&t. Just that alone tells me that the Q10 will most likely cost a bit more than the Z here in the states.

Total carrier based pricing. Z10 and Q10 are the same price from blackberry blame your provider for jacking up the price....
As they know every enterprise customers will update to this model... just do the math....
Total dirt bag politics the provider will make more profit on this phone over 3 years more than BlackBerry will on the sale of the phone....
Price drop in December on this one once the enterprise orders devices...

Its 100 dollars more here in Canada. 200 dollars on a three year plan is an intimidating price tag. Even with gift card for future shop and trading in my bb 9900, I'm hesitant. I might wait until price goes down. Its alot of money when you're a college boy.

By a long long way, you simply can't compare a landscape keyboard that has been slapped onto an all-touch device with a blackberry qwerty device that has been designed from the ground up with the idea that you will be using that keyboard a lot.
