On my Bold 9900 no passwords were needed. With Blackberry changing the entire email platform on BB10 to the new less secure and less dependable platform for my corporate email to be on my phone, upon installation my company makes me utilize a password on the Q10. While this is a huge pain what makes it worse is BB mandates the password NOT be repeating characters and has to be 4 seperate letters only. Who the hell is BB to mandate how my password is set?? If i want my password to be "1111" I should be able to do just that!! Everything with this phone is a struggle.....

Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of using a password to secure the device?

Really?? The password that I set on my own device isn't secure enough?? I should be able to set my own password without BB restrictions...

The corporate policy can always override/replace minimum restrictions. This is how it should be. Now BlackBerry having the phone only one that restricts is annoying. I think that's changed in 10.1 MR

Lmfao really? Complaining about BlackBerry? When it's your company that sets the standards of your device encryption? Btw is this a personal device or a work owned device?

And yes 1111 is so insecure it isn't funny. Sure it may be simple to unlock, but you misplace or lose or have that device stolen, guess what, that's one of the easiest passwords to crack.

Oh jeez must be a struggle not to drive through red lights . So much waiting and concern for safety.

How is email on BB10 any less secure than on previous BlackBerrys....

Something tells me that if you were allowed to set your own password, and if someone hacked into your device by guessing your "1111," you'd be right back on these forums blaming BlackBerry for not being secure enough.

The 10.1 update will allow you to set a numeric pin to unlock you device.

Very simple: figure out a number and type it on the keyboard of the Q10... "14253" would be "wsedr"... there is your password ;-)

Fixed that for you. My Q10 with no IT policy can set 1111 as the password.

I'm using a numeric password on my Q10 from the beginning, about 3 months now. Don't see what the problem is.
