Hi everyone,

My Q10 seemed to be okay before. With. The 10.2.1 release, it seems to want to insert a. Period followed by a capital letter as demonstrated in the apparent typos above.

Is this just me or is there an issue with 10.2.1??

I think there might be some dust under your space key, see if you can get rid of it with a compressed air duster.

Sounds like the double typing issue to me. Have you tried reloading your software? If that doesn't help, it's a hardware problem and you need to have your keyboard replaced.

If you want a quick fix, you can turn off the period insert by going to Settings>Language and Input>Prediction and Correction. From there, scroll down to Auto-Capitalize and Period Shortcut. Turn them off. You will still get two spaces, however it will stop the period and capitalization issue.

So...if I need to reload, I need to wipe the device and reset to factory, then immediately load 10.2.1? Replacing the keyboard...hopefully TMO will keep its promise to support existing handsets..

Mine started doing the same thing two days ago. It's very annoying. If you watch the screen it has to do with the auto correct. I think that the phone has learned some word with periods after them.

I'll bet the farm that this is what it is. It just happens to be affecting the space bar, which isn't that uncommon, unfortunately. It's not about the OS version.

It's happened once sense I cleared it. It was happening all the time before.

Update: after clearing learned words. I had it happen one time, so I cleared it again and hasn't happened again.

In these cases I always liked to tell myself it was a software issue, but 100% of the time it developed into an unbearable hardware issue, I would monitor it a bit more, if not send it in for a warranty repair.

Mine had a similar problem and I lived with it for awhile, then when I had enough I complained to my carrier (whilst my device was still less than a year old), they agreed to repair it for free.

It came back after 2 days and they reset it back 10.2.1.2141 and stated in the repair log that there was a "boot_rom error".

My phone is all working great now, and I've reverted back to 10.2.1.2947.

I am believing it is a software problem. I can watch it change at the bottom of the screen. When I push the space bar words light-up green and puts a period after it. Its not like I'm misspelled the word, it happens on words like you, what,the. I don't believe I am misspelling them. I have turned off auto-correct with space bar and learn new word, to see how that does.

If that was the issue wouldn't it do it with the correct with space bar turned off also. If I clear learned words and turn off auto correct I don't have the problem. If it was double clicking I would still get the period.

I turned off auto-correct with space bar and learned words and it only took four days for it to return. The word still turns green on suggested word and puts a period in.

In the last 10 minutes, I just read about 20 posts from members that could use your BlackBerry.
Proper punctuation is a lost cause for many here...

Yeah I have read most of them. I'm going to try reload a different OS to see what happens. If I still have problems I'm going to go back to my 9930 and start looking at other platforms.

Welcome to the club friend. Unfortunatelly for you the BlackBerry people cannot fiix this issue right now since they are probably busy fixing the Contacts app or closing the "app gap".

Not to mention they are working also on the flagship for next year, they will definitely come up with THE BEST 720p display device the world has ever seen.
