Alright, so a big thanks to everyone in this thread for their research and all the posted information. I'm going to be exchanging my new Z10 tomorrow for a Q10, I'm on Rogers. However, I purchased the phone at an authorized reseller (Future Shop) and I'm wondering whether they'll have the -1 model since I do travel to the US quite a bit.

Just to confirm, the -3 will still work on HSPA+ in the US, correct? It's just that the LTE that won't work?

They don't carry it in store as far as i know, even rogers stores don't have it as far as i know, you will have to order from customer service. Make sure when the agent is placing the order, they are ordering RIMNUS. The thing that sucks is you will have to return to future shop, then call customer service and wait for shipping.

Does anyone know what version FIDO carries? I know they piggyback off of Roger's, so I'm assuming it's the 100-3, (as the store where I bought my Z10 had the same Z10s being distributed for either Rogers or Fido. I know in the past they were locked to them, but now maybe they allow cross compatibility?). Looking at Fido's specs online, it simply says:
LTE Bands: 2100 or 2600 MHz
    HSPA Bands: 850/1900/2100 MHz
    GSM Bands: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

And a general question (not sure if it goes here or should start a new thread)..

Why is the cross-over between bands on the phones not the same? Is it just a hardware internal to the band?
e.g., for the Z10, (speaking for Fido, but even looking at the chart on ScwB's Z10 table: http://forums.crackberry.com/blackbe...encies-775253/ ), many of the LTE bands listed there for the Z10 are now in the HSPA category for the Q10), the frequencies/service is listed as:
    Frequencies
    LTE : 700/850/1700/1900 MHz
    HSPA : 850/1900/2100
    GSM : 850/900/1800/1900

So, if 850 and 1900 MHz work as LTE on the Z10, why not on the Q10? (again, I don't know if this is just internal to the phone... i.e., the hardware is built to receive/use LTE only on the 2100/2600 MHz band).

Sorry for any confusion, just trying to understand on my end

Fido could be carrying either the 100-3 or the 100-1. Now if the specs are to be believed and they really don't use off the Rogers LTE 1700 network at all, then it would be the 100-3 model only.

This is the second time I'm seeing "LTE 2100" next to a Rogers/Fido listing. Interesting.

My guess is that band are combined to guarantee full (all-network) compatibility across similar carriers. So take the STL100-3 RFF91LW for example. AT&T uses the LTE 700 band. But what if you weren't in an area with LTE? Would you drop down to 2G? No, because this phone would still work at high data speeds, because it has the bands for their 850/1900 MHz 3G/HSPA+ networks too. Telus also uses 850/1900 for HSPA+, but what if you wanted to use their LTE network? This model phone has the LTE 1700 band for that. So they're providing full compatibility across these networks. Hope that kinda answers your question.

Okay this may not be the post but it's the only one that came close and you guys seem to know alot...If I get a unlocked Telus Q10 will it work on LTE with Bell? If not, what if I get a Verizon Q10 would it work on Bell with or without LTE since I heard Verizon Q10s come unlocked? Or does it have to factory unlocked to work on LTE on Bell

Both will work on Telus with LTE. The Bell phone does not have to factory unlocked to work on Telus.

Will there be any drawbacks or compromises by using a T-Mobile Q10 on Videotron?

The SQN100-5 will work on AT&T, yes. You would just need to get it unlocked if it's from a carrier.

Yes. The T-Mobile one is the SQN100-5, and it has all of AT&T's bands too.

I ordered a white unlocked Q off Shop Blackberry yesterday and the SKU on the receipt shows -- PRD-53242-001

    - 4G LTE speed
    - Only compatible with GSM carriers, including AT&T and T-Mobile.

I'm hoping it is the SQN 5.

Most of Europe uses the SQN100-3, I would think that's what works in Portugal as well.
