Hey Everyone! It's been a long time since i posted here, I read almost every day though.

Anyways, a friend of mine recently got a brand new Q10. She is having this issue where once in a while, the keyboard stops functioning.

I thought maybe she was probably doing something wrong, so i tried it out myself, it doesn't seem like i can fix it (without a reboot).

Trying to reply to an email, you cannot type anywhere, you can tap, and the curser shows up blinking, but keyboard isnt putting any input. Replying to BBM, same issue, sms, Remember app, shortcuts nothing works. its almost as if the keyboard has some type of lock that gets disabled after a restart. Also, the backlight does not function as well.

One thing i tried was a hub refresh (5 swipes from the top right), that didn't do anything to solve it.

At first, we thought it was related to the battery being too low, but now it happens with the battery above 50%. So we cannot even figure out what causes it.

Perhaps this was an issue with an old version of the software, and an update might fix it (i haven't gotten a chance to check which version the Q10 is on as yet)

Please bare in mind, I use a Z10, so i don't know all of the little tricks and tips for a Q10, so it might be something simple that others may know how to deal with

I couldn't find the exact issue inside of the other "keyboard problems" threads. I apologize if i missed it.

I am hoping someone can provide some insight on why and how its happening. How to fix it WITHOUT a restart, and how to prevent it from happening again (if possible).

I would look to loading another OS from the leak forums perhaps or do a device wipe and see if the problem still exists

alright thank you, i figured it was some one off issue since i didn't read anyone else having an issue like this. Perhaps shes on some older version of the OS that people didnt use for a long time, so never experienced the bug. since its a bit easier, i will start by just doing an update (if there is one), then proceed with a wipe if it still exists.
