Yes, I actually have the same concern. I usually use the leather pocket pouch, but I listen to music from my phone while at the gym and put on the hardshell for some protection against sweat or if I bang it against the weights by accident. I don't like the feel of the hardshell backing at all, it is quite slippery and I feel like I may drop it when removing it from my pocket. It also adds more bulk than I'd like from a hardshell case, but other than that, it fits really well and seems to offer adequate protection.

bought the soft shell but dont like how the sides raise when i swipe left and right. going to sell it and buy the hard shell in hopes it has a firmer fit on the q10.

Agreed...the soft shell case fits but it can slip off for example if your are swiping gestures right from the edge. the soft shell is more like a slip cover more than anything,as any pressure or movement can pop it off. However it's snug enough to stay on even while removing or placing phone with soft shell on in/out of the leather holster.

For 9900/9930. Is tighter than Q10 cases because the Q10 is 1-2mm thicker. Saw a coworker with this case + 9900 and asked if I could fit my Q10 in it. For $6 and free shipping, it ain't bad!

Otterbox Commuter Series

Just got it today. It's good protection, but the problem that I have, and have had with a previous otterbox defender for my S3 is the stretch of the rubber part.
It irks me to know end. This is not 24 hours old. Im gonna contact them with this photo, and see if its suppose to be like this.

I thought I was going to have a problem typing with the edge keys, but not really. Looking for a sleeker case with the same protection already though.

I've got the case-mate olo (tough) series which is similar to Otterbox Commuter but in my opinion much better. It's slimmer and doesn't have that god awful silicon border around the perimeter of the front face. Of course there is less protection (minor), but I don't need my phone to survive falls from the 10th Storey floor! It has exactly what I need...Seperate silicon skin and outer polycarbonate shell with soft touch surface which the Otterbox doesn't have (helps with grip). The other major point is how easy you can remove the phone from the case.

Have the Commuter, can't add better pics than above. If you must have major protection go with the Commuter; the Defender would be way too big. The Commuter is well made and essentially indestructible. As it is the Commuter adds a fair amount of heft to the device and really makes it almost too big to front shirt pocket carry. Really, it is amazing how much difference a few cm makes.

So if protection is your thing, can't go wrong with the Commuter. I may look at the hard shell case for when I'm not on my bike and looking for extra protection.

Does the commuter protect the screen as well? It just looks like it offers protection for the rear of the device, whereas the defender looks like 2 pieces that come together to cover the screen and the rear.

Is that right?

You can lay the phone face down in the Commuter and neither keyboard nor screen will make contact with the surface it rests on. I count that as a positive attribute for the case.

The case mate cases both look awesome in silver and black but I'd go for the black one simply because of the textured grip. Good selling point for those butta fingers!

You're supposed to press the rubber in. The case is super tight, and that part is also the part I struggle with.

I love my trident aegis. I was always a big fan of otterbox but lately feel their designs have weakened. This case is like the computer but a bit more bulky/serious. I really like it. It even allows for more better typing by having case edges fall away a bit just by the keyboard

I've picked up a few cases. The BlackBerry Hard Shell, Incipio Feather, Poetic FlipBook and BlackBerry Leather Pouch. I also got the Incipio Frequency but something was off with the fit so I RMA'd it with Incipio. I love dealing with them. They respond quickly and only care about making the customer happy. I'll include the pictures of the weird gap at the top and bottom of that case to show why I returned it. So far the Feather is probably my favorite but for a little more protection of the steel band I go with the BB Hard Shell. All these cases are great, IMO.
