Hi. I am planning to switch from Z10 to Q10. Is it wise? I have games installed but I never toucbed them due to my busy sched. I wanted the Physical Keyboard Back. I don't mind the smaller screen coz i dont watch videos and play much. Do you think it is okay? My Z10 battery dies fast. Is it true that it has better battery? My Z10 lasts for 6 hrs coz i am a heavy messaging user

I don't miss the games or have the screen size issue because I am like you, very busy to play a game on my mobile. If I wanna play a game, I would do that on my Gaming Laptop (ASUS G750JX)

The battery is better than the Z10 because the screen is smaller, simple as that

that ain't normal, you must have so many open apps that are sucking the battery. I close every app when Im done with it

mind you, my battery life is great despite me having location services and BB Protect on, so just imagine

That looks like you took it off charger at 5:30am and it still has another 9 hrs for 17 hrs total... if that's what it's saying, that is freaking amazing for a modern smartphone....

Took it off at 530, but didnt touch it again till 830am. As someone posted earlier the hours left is determined by how its being used at the time. So if your idle for the rest of day I may get 9 hours. But there is only 56% battery to use for rest of day for normal use. Its not good battery life.

If you aren't getting 12-16 hours at least (that's what I get with heavy use), there's something else going on with your phone that's eating your battery. Radio signal maybe?

Reboot and stop using the apps that you think could cause this drain to see if it is the cause.

the q10 is the underdog and most underrated mobile computing device around. I blame it on blackberry for not properly promoting such an incredible device. And not just for the battery (i get 16 hours as a heavy user!)! It's an all-around communication freakin' machine!

One day we will get our respect.....even if we have to take it!

I have used the Q10 for 1 our and 24 minutes nonstop.

    This costs 24%

The remaining ours are calculated on your previous use so I can use the Q10 nonstop for another 5 ours

Don't rely too heavily on the no. of hours it estimates you have left; I almost always get more than what it says there. The % is more accurate since it tells you how much charge you have still. Yes it appears you may be leaking charge a bit (see next paragraph) but it's not terrible. Do you find your battery feels hot after periods of non-use?

You may have some non-app OS functions running in the background by default, of which you are unaware. For example: go to Settings>Security and Privacy >Diagnostics and turn off BB's background data collection if it's on. Also tweak other settings like letting screen go black sooner or telling Hub to sync less often. Some times several small changes can make a big difference, so see what other settings you can adjust to improve battery performance.

I would get a new BlackBerry battery from the store, let it lose charge, then charge it all the way up without use. I have done this to all of my phones and I have always got great battery life. I just ordered a second battery for my Q10 since I bought this device second hand.

These were may typical battery lives. Of course there are a lot of variables, but I run my business from my phones so I consider myself a heavy user. Phone use that is lol.

BlackBerry Q10-1 full day right now, but have a new battery on the way...

Iphone 4/5-1-2 days of battery life

Galaxy Note 3-4 days of battery life

    Galaxy S4-2-3 days

My data collection was already off, I changed sync to manual and my screen off is at 1 min.

Changed battery also. I have gotten a slight better battery use. But still at 51% midday with light use.

Your battery life isn't that bad. If I just leave my phone alone beginning with a full charge, it will go easily 17 to 20 hours, maybe more. If I'm using it for calls, text, forum posting, email (my regular activites) etc maybe I'll get 14 to 17 hrs. Playing a game will shorten it further, as will taking pictures or playing music. I own a couple of chargers as well as the charger-with-battery combo, in case I'm traveling without access to a wall outlet. But I've never felt worried that my battery was going to die while I was working - it's very reliable.

Do you guys use car chargers?

I was told by a tech friend of mine to:

    1. Never use a car charger, they burn up battery's since they are made to be "quick chargers".

    2. Always let the battery get <20% before charging again.

    3. When charging, let the battery get to 100% before disconnecting.

    4. Try and not use the phone while it's charging.

These are some tips that a ATT buddy of mine gave me. I have been using these steps for the last 4 years with great success!
