Lol, I checked the production date for my Q10 and it's May 2014 even though I bought the phone in 2014 March.

So far there is no double typing.

I suppose on the lower right hand above the "Made in Mexico", the numerals indicate the manufacturing date? Mine says 220513, so I suppose that means 05 May 13. I'm disappointed because mine came brand new from my local Philippine carrier just a couple of months back. Everything is okay so far, but this gives me little assurance that the double typing issue won't rear it's ugly head months from now....

    Good news!

Although, I admit to being envious. Ever since writing in the "Double Typing" chat I had no issues, issues have been developing. Double typing is becoming more and more an issue. The screen response is dropping. And just yesterday the headphone jack has stopped functioning. There a few more issues. Luckily I have the Z30 to fall back on, but must admit this is "glitchiest" BB I have ever owned.

Has there been a root cause to be blamed for all the performance shortcomings of the Q10? Like for example porting android apps or loading leaked beta versions of OS updates ? All these not so great quirks and issues make me a bit apprehensive in regards to ordering the phone and using it as my one and only device under a new 2-year contract

Had mine for almost a year and haven't had any of the issues mentioned in original post. One of the lucky ones I guess!
I am the same. I think there are some lucky few who never had similar issues.

Got my new Q10 from my local carrier just three weeks back, and lo and behold, production date appears to be May 2013.

But the box also doesn't have RIM marking. What gives?

So far, no double typing. I also dread the possibility of getting problems down the road - I hope not. I know that my carrier no longer carries the Q10. I'd hate being issued another model if the inevitable happens.

You should look on the box, I bought mine on Aug.2 2014 and you can see the manufacture day.

How did you ensure that your Q10 would be from a newly manufactured batch? I've been trying to find out of there's a certain way to do this. Can you request a new one from your service carrier upon purchase ???
