You can download the latest one on blackberry website.

I might suggest that instead of just taking LINK that you go and get BLEND instead. It offers the best of both applications and updated drivers with one installation.
BlackBerry Blend ? Desktop Software for BlackBerry - Canada
Hmhm im asking if "update" via BlackBerry Link still depends on carrier or is some kind "BB" direct or something ?
I dont have windows or osx just curious abot update !

Unfortunately I don't believe any of BlackBerry's software runs on Linux :( I lament that daily.
I don't know if Link or Blend runs with wine but I wine but I would be surprised.
So best bet is either a vm or dual boot with windows.
Someone please tell me there's another way!?

I think the question is if he uses Link if he could speed up the install of the latest phone update or if he has to wait for his carrier and not if there's an update to the desktop software.

Thx @Poncherelly , eng. is not my native language , must be i dont know how to ask Q. !? Or ?
No it will not. A workaround is getting a cheap cash sim card (no data plan required) from a carrier that you know has released a fresher version. Be careful though, remember your APN settings. You'll probably need to manually put those settings back.
Go Linux!! :-)
thx .
*off topic * I was thinking there is everywhere some kind of "free" (you dont pay for piece of plastic, just usage ) SIM card you can use like here in Denmark !?!? Here is about 3 carriers i know that have free prepaid SIM , just pick one at the desk put in the phone and can make calls and sms to same carrier without paing .
The other way of doing it but you'll need a PC is to use the non destructive blitz files with Sachei and update yourself.
