As a sales rep and user of Fido, I'm sad to see that we are not getting the Q10. Spoke to the Blackberry Rep today and he told me that both Telus and Bell's discount brands Koodo and Virgin will carry the Q10.

Hope you change your mind Rogers!!!

Yes it's not that expensive to get it from another carrier and unlock it but if one is looking to get it with a contract and pay less (way less) they will likely want their carrier to have to phone

More like $45 everywhere and $25 at cellunlock or something with a coupon.

You need to be prepared to shell out $50 if you plan on buying the phone from somewhere other than your carrier

Rogers isn't going to offer the good phones on 2 YA contracts while they're arguing to the CRTC that Canadians prefer 3 YA contracts.

Found a link yesterday from the forums to a site that did it for $20 (unfortunately, I didn't bookmark it so I'll have to retrace my steps to find it). There are free sites as well but the one I used before on my old BB's isn't doing the Z10 yet.

Anyhow, I hope it comes to sites like Fido/Virgin/Koodo since they usually sell for less than their parent companies (Rogers/Bell/Telus). I buy off contract so any money I can save is appreciated.

Fido is the discount brand, by having the q10 On Rogers only it would cause people to move to rogers, thereby generating more revenue for the company, it's a smart business move. However if koodo and other discount brands carry it, there may be a jump from fido to other brands and not fido to rogers, depending on how significant the jump to other providers is, I assume fido would stock the q10 to prevent this customer loss.

Rogers BlackBerry Q10 won't need to be unlocked to work with Fido. It'll just work.

Not in all cases. Some Z10's do not work on Fido even tho they are locked to Rogers. Some do tho and you don't even have to unlock it.

From what I have heard from my friends working retail, they have told me when they get z10s, they are not locked, so if they got 10, they can be activated on either fido or rogers, but once activated, it's is then locked to the provider you activated on, I think this is also true with the iphone5s

But this is only true for phones for fido rogers, not applicable to their stock for bell or telus

Serious? Good thing I ran out of patience and renewed my contract to get the Z10. But there goes my plan of having my wife pick up the Q10 and then swapping phones with her.

The Fido web site lists the Q10 as for $350 with Tab and $650 without subsidy. The specs don't show 2600MHz for LTE though, strangely.

Good news fido is going to offer the Q10...they really are stepping up this year, about time they give some love to BlackBerry.

Not worth it - you get forced onto the 3-year contract and the monthly plans in that section charge more and offer (a lot) less than the monthly plans in the 2-year contract.

Between $350 on a 2-year contract and $200 on a 3-year contract, I'd take the former any day. The $150 difference is like 2-3 monthly bills. More importantly, the 2-year contract is compatible with some good-valued plans like $60 for unlimited everything + 1 GB data (in comparison, the cheapest 3-year plan is $55 for 250 min and 200 MB data...). I myself am on the $39 plan with 450 minutes and 400 MB of data - so if I got a Q10 on a 2-year contract and kept this plan it would seriously pay for itself.
