For those of you wondering about odd dimming or why the q10 doesn't match other phones brightness.

I think CrackBerry covered this already and this is from their article.

We spent a lot of time developing the "GLO" algorithm ("Garber Light Optimization", after the engineer who developed it) to automatically adjust the display backlight setting to provide the user with the same perceived brightness regardless of the ambient illumination level. The slider moves that auto-dimming curve up and down to match a user's preference.

I don't personally see the curve.
But dimming/brightening has always worked fine for me.

It still doesn't change the fact the Q10 is dimmer than comparable devices. Even not comparable devices are better in this regard: Both of my Symbian^3 Nokias, the E7 and X7, offer brighter screens and better readability outsides. Considering both phones also use AMOLED technology, which is even from late 2010(!), that is a disappointing thing for BlackBerry.

Will 10.2 update have increased brightness settings?
