Hi everyone. I am thinking about jumping to 1055, but want to set myself up to not have to restore. I currently use password keeper, but would like to switch to something that can store a backup on the sd card...suggestions?

KeePass, has android version (I am using this on my Z10) and a desktop version. Both free by the way, has support for DropBox so maintaining multiple databases is not needed.

I would use BB PWK if they had a proper import feature, and a desktop feature. I use my database to maintain all kinds of information. Passwords, hardware information, Router information, ect ect ect. So using the BB PWK is not even close to useful for me.

Can you provide a link to the one you use. I've found a bunch with "KeePass" in the name, but not one with just the name KeePass.

    Downloads - KeePass

As for your item linked, why would I pay 2.00 for something that does the same thing for free. I do believe in supporting developers, but let's be honest here. The Android version does the same but costs less. And since it is written by the same company, I feel more comfortable that comparability will not be broken in future releases.

From the description of KeePassB it seems the developer did not even have the foresight of editting his description.

I'd recommend Enpass. I've switched to this app months ago because I didn't want to mess up the leaks by restoring backups. Enpass is a native app which looks and feels exactly like Password Keeper, but has more features, presets and can both sync to Dropbox and save backups to PC/Mac. Both ways are of course encrypted. Give it a shot, I'm absolutely satisfied

I do not know the current situation, but when Andrei's (KeePassB) port was created, it was the only version in appworld with support for v2 databases, and the developer spent time modifying it to better fit the BB10 UI and integrate with the BB file manager. I use it on my Z10 and Playbook, and prefer it to various free ones I had tried. I will not debate the specific price, but I for one have no problem paying someone for open source software when I do not have the time nor tools to build it myself for the platform I'm using. I am not paying for free software, I am paying for the convenience of having someone else modify and build it for the platform. If you want to build it yourself or use an unmodified Android version, by all means go ahead, but remember open source does not mean it must be distributed for free, it simply means the source code is freely available.

Go and grab the latest Password Keeper with export/import functions included... When you load it on your existing setup - it only updates the app you already have - don't delete any of your entries... Then just export what you have onto SD card / dropbox etc... install 1055 - install the updated PassWord Keeper app again - and Import ... and you are all set... no 3rd party needed - and all info encrypted and safe all the way...

True, I didn't know the OP needed a desktop version too. I'm on Mac so I have Enpass app for desktop, but honestly I don't even use it, I just grab my Z10 and find the password there.

I used to use Password Keeper until I got to BB10 and it lost its backup feature with BB Protect. Then I changed to "keeper", which was good but to sync with desktop, you had to pay.

Now I use Enpass. which backs up to Dropbox and sync with the desktop. its $3.99 i think it was for the full version of the app, but worth it.

    Cheers
