Might sound like a dumb question but what is the significance of the panda bear? I'm from UK so I've never used Telus.

All Telus ads feature various animals[Television], I don't know why, but they just do.

Telus adds have featured all different kinds of animals, for years now. I still don't know why. Lol

The Panda is a continuation of a very popular advertising campaign started by Clear Net (which Telus purchased in 2000) in the 90's.

I see. Thanks for clearing that up folks.
In regards to the OP, great to see ads already in stores. Saw one for the Q10 in my local Carphone Warehouse store. Couldn't get a pic though, was showing off my Z10 to everyone :P

The Pandas arriving at the Toronto Zoo from China has been well covered by media here in Canada, so Telus probably decided to take advantage. It's consistent with their animal ads theme anyway.

When I was working at Telus Mobility, they referred to these guys as Telus critters and had different animals that represented different marketing campaigns. For example, the launch of their 3G+ network was a hippo, their My Faves (the equuivalent of My 5) was the meerkats, which I think was officially their most popular critter. I like that Q10 got a panda and not some obscure bird or marsupial. Lol.

If it was intentional by Telus I'd say ...
    Panda & Q10 relevance:
Seen as an endangered species/product (physical qwerty candybar smartphone in the industry)
Seen as spiritually connected to those of the land (BB users LOVE their keyboards, swear by it, will not go anywhere without their BB its part of their lives).
Strong, silent, and smart (BB users, nuff said).
Non-violent (I hope that's the majority of CB users and BB users alike).
Bah ... just a quick quip from the top of my dome.

Something interesting is that on Rogers Wireless site ... seem like the Q10 is available for purchase already, until you click on the link from the main wireless page.

Hahaha, be careful how far you take the metaphor, because a panda is also:

    -Made in China
    -Slow
    -Fat
    -Monochromatic/colourless
    -Defenceless
    -Going out of style (endangered)
