So few days back i started to face this issue of double typing. This happened after few months of using Q10 so confident its not a hardware issue.
Now back to the point on how it got solved. Well i just removed Q10 shell protecting the phone. I have a gel/rubber shell casing and once i removed it, i haven't faced double typing issue. If anyone is using a hard shell or a rubber casing for protecting Q10 and is facing double typing, just remove it to test my theory. I am sure you wont complain

Solved my issue. I am assuming due to casing issue our fingers force double typing. Well till now its working for me. So i am happy.

Of course he is. I'm just saying I think there is a moderator out there editing our titles to include the word "opinion" and I don't understand why. Everything on a public forum is someone's opinion.

Yes surely it was mod. I never did put opinion in title. Nothing to lose if anyone wants to try. Secondly i never did faced such issue in start. Just few weeks back it started. Maybe its a software issue and my timings coincided with it getting fixed.
Still worth to give it a try

No, not everything on a forum is just someone's opinion - there are also:

- a. facts (like the one just posted - that double typing ceased after removing the protective shell)

and

- b. confirmed hypotheses (that's what OP's opinion about solving the double typing issue would become if it will not be rejected by the tests done by the users)

So, until OP's hypothesis is not tested yet on a meaningful scale, remains just an "opinion" (so the modified title is correct). But it can become a valid "theory" - which won't be just an "opinion", but a reliable way for solving an annoying problem.

2. There are at least 2 types of discussions:

a) one about values, preferences etc. ("I like the feel of physical keyboards", "I prefer my phone to be red, it gives it more character")

b) one about facts, explanations (theories) and solutions to problems (like the one started by the OP here)


The first type is the one that should not be marked with an "[Opinion]" tag, because it isn't intended to get to the truth (there will be always people who will find the red color to be too flashy for a phone) - but to share someone's values (it's only about opinions, so its status cannot change to something else). In this case "opinion" is a synonym of "preference".

The second type is the one dealing with propositions that are true or false. "If you remove the shell case from a Q10, then the double-typing issue will dissapear" is a statement that's independent from the values of anyone on this forum. It is simply true or false, and until tested, is qualified as an "[Opinion]". It is easy to test it, so its "opinion" status will be changed soon. In this case "opinion" is a synonym of "hypothesis".

TheoRadu, you are saying that "forums are for discussions" - nobody is denying that. Marking a statement as "[Opinion]" is just that: an invitation to a discussion to clarify the truth of that statement.

The reason for a mod putting opinion in the title is because this doesn't solve the double typing issue.

I can't stress this enough, I have a faulty keyboard, if I put it into my q10 with ANY os, it has double typing... if I put in my working keyboard it will work WITHOUT double typing on ANY os.

the solution to the double typing issue is to replace the keyboard, (which comes with membrane attached). Hopefully all the faulty keyboards have been purged and the replacement you get works flawlessly like mine has.

The opinion heading is well deserved, the original title of the post was rather too definitive. However, had the OP included say a reference to a BlackBerry technical bulletin, or some kind of universally verifiable source that gave a clear cause and solution for the issue then we'd have a legitimate reason for giving such a definitive title.

The mods are trying to make sure that people take a little more care into their titles, not very fascist move...

I do not have a cover but I am sstil facingg double typing sometimes (notice the double s aand double g there ? And again a double aa ? Twice) .

people post outright erroneous statements as fact all the time. I saw "opinion" and realized without it, the topic title sounds like a fact or even a BlackBerry-issued statement on the matter is contained in the topic.

That said, "Theory" would be better than "Opinion" in this case.

Took my case off and it seemed to work...need to type for a few more hours to test properly.
